Dealing with typically unspoken and taboo subjects such as cyberbullying, catfishing, blackmailing, online grooming, social media addiction and sexting is no longer a daunting task for parents, educators and teenage students alike in this digital era.
Driven by this vision of cybersecure world for children, Dr. Manjula Pooja Shroff, MD & CEO of Kalorex Group, has on Thursday, launched Total Parenting Solutions, a complete resource on parenting, offering timely guidance to parents, educators, and students in dealing with the critical challenges faced by today’s adolescents.
The resource includes Dr. Shroff’s bestseller, ‘Baby Steps to Big Dreams,’ its sequel ‘Safe Teen Steps’ co-authored by Times of India journalist Ragini Bharadwaj, which delves into making young adults cyber-secure, and an AI tool, Sitting-By-MAYA, that provides instant solutions to specific parenting queries. Total Parenting Solutions is an essential tool for navigating the complexities of parenting in today’s digitally-driven world.
During an interactive session, ‘Safe Teen Steps’ book was launched.. The book provides practical insights to parents and young adults and empowers them with the knowledge and wisdom to confidently and safely explore the online world.
“Teenage years are incredibly formative and fragile. It can either make or break a person. Exposure to content which is not suitable for young minds can impact their mental and emotional well-being. It is crucial for parents and educators to guide children through the digital challenges they face. For healthy development, open communication between parents and children is needed. Parents ought to spare 15 to 30 minutes for this crucial matter,” Dr. Manjula Pooja Shroff said on the occasion.
Answering a query of an inquisitive student on initiating relationships during adolescence, Dr Shroff in her inimical style quoting herself said, “It is natural to fall in love but it must be done after attaining the ripe age as I did after my higher education. Now, you have to concentrate on your education and dream big to attain your life’s ambition.”
Gujarati and Hindi versions of ‘Safe Teen Steps’ will be published soon, said Dr Shroff.
According to a survey released by McAfee Corp, more than 85% of children in India have reported being cyber-bullied – the highest in the world. In addition, nearly 45% of the youth hide their cyberbullying experiences from their parents or guardians, highlighting the need to look beyond the physical realm, and explore the vast, uncharted territories of the digital world.
In an era where the lines between humans and machines are getting increasingly blurred, Kalorex Group in July 2023 introduced MAYA, India’s first teacher, mentor and influencer, as well as the AI clone and avatar of Dr. Manjula Pooja Shroff. Over a span of around a year, MAYA has reached over 70 cities, 7,000 students, 8,000 senior educators, and 15,000 parents in India and abroad.
