During the 37th convocation of Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (SRIHER), 780 students received degrees on Friday. Dr. W. Selvamurthy, President, Amity Science, Technology and Innovation Foundation and Chancellor, Amity University, Chattisgarh gave away gold medals to 38 meritorious students.
Delivering the convocation address, Chief Guest Dr. W. Selvamurthy exhorted the graduates to unleash their youth power to make India a developed nation.

“India’s demographic profile constituting 60 per cent of our 1.4 billion population is youth. They can make India a developed nation. Our youth are not just the future leaders of India, but represent a critical component of the global workforce for the next thirty years. The demand for skilled labour and innovative minds is growing across the globe and India is uniquely positioned to meet this need. As young professionals you have opportunities to further the advancements by engaging in research, embracing new technologies and fostering a culture of innovation. Whether it is through pioneering research in biomedical sciences, improving healthcare delivery systems or developing new medical technologies, your efforts can enhance the quality of life for millions,” Dr. Selvamurthy said.
He further added that “As future leaders your engagement in global collaborations, research partnerships and international forums will enhance India’s stature worldwide. Embracing the philosophy of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, you can drive inclusive development, transcending regional and cultural boundaries. By fostering unity, empathy and collaboration, the youth can address global challenges like climate change, poverty and social inequality. In your pursuit of excellence, let integrity and ethical values by your guiding principles. The world needs leaders who are not only competent but also compassionate, responsible and visionary.”

Earlier in her report, Vice Chancellor Dr. Uma Sekar said the university proposes to start MD courses in laboratory and geriatric medicine. In alignment with NEP 2020, PG courses have been started in counselling psychology, social work and physician associate, graduate programmes in medical biotechnology, health information management and endoscopy technology and two fellowship programmes in oncology and neuro-motor rehabilitation during the current academic year. The SRIHER incubation center set up with funding support by Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council is now incubating 24 start-ups in digital health, point of care diagnostics, medical technologies, clean energy and waste management, she added.
