The State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) is not immune from the obesity epidemic sweeping the country. Studies indicate that there is a rising trend of obesity among the SRPF Personnel.

With an aim to create obesity awareness among them and keep them physically fit forever, Dream Foundation, an NGO, in partnership with the SRPF Group 2 (Gujarat Police), hosted a crucial seminar on obesity awareness for them at their Naroda Patiya headquarters here recently. The event drew over 375 SRPF officers, reflecting a strong joint effort to promote health and wellness within the police community.
Led by SPS Commandant Manjita Vanzara, the seminar featured expert insights from Dr. Nehal Sadhu, MD, a renowned physician, cardiologist, and diabetologist, and Dr. Bipin Patel, MD, both were prominent members of the Ahmedabad Physician Association. The doctors highlighted the serious health risks linked to obesity, including heart disease, diabetes, hormonal imbalances, and specific concerns affecting women’s health. They also provided practical advice on nutrition, portion control, stress management, and adopting healthier lifestyle habits tailored to the demanding nature of police work.

To bolster the initiative, Senior Police Officers SP P. P. Vyas and DYSP L. D. Rathod attended the seminar, pledging their commitment to the well-being of their teams.
DYSP Rathod emphasised the workshop’s significance, stating, “The workshop organized by Dream Foundation to spread awareness on obesity is not a seminar; it is a vital step towards maintaining a healthier police force.” Nirav Shah, President of Dream Foundation, added, “This initiative is not just about awareness—it’s about transformation. We are proud to partner with Gujarat Police in creating a stronger, healthier force.”
This collaboration underscores the critical importance of health awareness in law enforcement and sets a precedent for future campaigns aimed at improving the physical and mental well-being of police personnel.
