CC Sheth College of Commerce, part of the Navgujarat Group of Colleges, recently organised an insightful session on Nutrition Awareness to educate students on the importance of a balanced diet and healthy eating habits. The session was conducted by Dr Charmi Shah, a renowned nutritionist and dietician, who provided valuable insights into maintaining overall well-being through proper nutrition.

At the outset, Dr Shah explained the fundamentals of nutrition and its role in daily life. She outlined 12 healthy eating habits, including the benefits of consuming home-cooked meals, avoiding processed foods, eating on time, and staying hydrated.
“Good nutrition isn’t about restriction—it’s about balance. From staying hydrated to choosing whole foods over processed ones, every small habit shapes long-term health. Understanding nutrients empowers us to nourish not just our bodies, but also our skin, hair, and overall well-being,” said Dr Charmi Shah.
A key segment of the session focused on the adverse effects of junk food, such as obesity and poor digestion, and encouraged students to make healthier choices. Dr Shah also provided practical dietary recommendations for healthy hair, skin, and nails, stressing the benefits of biotin, omega-3 fatty acids, and antioxidants. She debunked several myths about fats, explaining their role in absorbing fat-soluble vitamins and providing energy.
Additionally, Dr Shah addressed the consequences of vitamin and mineral deficiencies, which can lead to fatigue, memory issues, and poor sleep. She emphasised the importance of hydration and fibre intake for digestion and maintaining a healthy weight.
The session was well-received, with students appreciating the practical advice and interactive approach.
