In a landmark moment for Indian adventure tourism, the vast salt deserts of the Rann of Kutch are set to witness history as nearly 50 Toyota Hilux vehicles come together in a single, high-octane convoy to conquer some of Gujarat’s most dramatic landscapes.
The pioneering expedition, titled the ‘Kutchh Rann Utsav Hilux Expedition’, will be flagged off on Saturday, January 10 at 6:00 am from Club 07, Ahmedabad, marking India’s first large-scale Hilux convoy adventure across the iconic terrains of Kutch.
Spearheaded by Nomad Hilux Group in collaboration with Radhe Tourism, the expedition is being curated by Naran Gadhvi, a seasoned Kutch tourism specialist with over eight years of grassroots experience. Gadhvi has guided more than 10,000 travellers through the rugged heart of Kutch and is known for curating niche, high-discipline expeditions for bikers, artists, photographers and adventure seekers.
A First-of-Its-Kind Adventure on Indian Soil
For the first time in the country’s adventure tourism history, a convoy of close to 50 Toyota Hilux pickup trucks will traverse a challenging 1,500-kilometre route, cutting across deserts, canyons and border landscapes.
Organisers stress that the expedition is not driven by record-setting ambitions alone, but by a deeper intent to unite Hilux owners from across India and immerse them in the cultural soul and geographical extremes of Kutch—where raw terrain meets timeless heritage.
‘Not Just a Convoy, But the Spirit of Kutch’
Expressing his excitement, Naran Gadhvi, Founder of Radhe Tourism, said, “This is not just a convoy of vehicles, but a confluence of Kutch’s identity and the spirit of adventure.”
He added, “Our aim is for Hilux owners coming from all over India to witness the beauty of the White Rann and the ‘Road to Heaven’ firsthand, thereby promoting Gujarat tourism globally.”
Emphasising responsibility alongside thrill, Gadhvi said, “We want to create history with safety and discipline, ensuring the event remains a milestone in the world of tourism for years to come.”
Iconic Routes, Unforgettable Experiences
The carefully curated route will take participants through some of Gujarat’s most awe-inspiring natural landmarks, including the legendary ‘Road to Heaven’, the shimmering White Rann, and the dramatic Bhuj Canyon.
Adding cultural flavour to the adrenaline rush, participants will also attend the Kite Festival at Dholavira and experience a high-energy White Rann safari, bringing alive the timeless slogan:
“Kutch Nahi Dekha Toh Kuch Nahi Dekha.”
Safety, Discipline and Precision Planning
Given the unprecedented scale of the convoy, the organisers have put in place robust safety and logistics mechanisms. The expedition will be supported by eight marshal teams and four traffic management teams operating along the entire route.
To address contingencies, two backup vehicles, a dedicated medical team for immediate treatment, and strict convoy discipline protocols have been deployed. Visits to sensitive border zones, including the ‘Last West Point of India’ at Koteshwar–Lakhpat, will be conducted under stringent regulations to ensure security and compliance.
A New Benchmark for Adventure Tourism
As engines roar against endless salt plains and convoy silhouettes cut through the desert horizon, the Kutchh Rann Utsav Hilux Expedition is poised to redefine India’s adventure tourism narrative—positioning Gujarat as a premier destination where culture, capability and controlled adventure come together.
