CHENNAI, OCT 5
The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) will organise Social Security Awareness Melas under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana across various educational institutions in Chennai and Puducherry on October 6, 2025, as part of a nationwide drive to strengthen financial literacy among youth.
The initiative aims to familiarise students, young professionals, and future workforce participants with the benefits of provident fund savings and social security coverage from an early age.
- Interactive sessions in Chennai & Puducherry colleges to educate students on provident fund, pension, and insurance benefits — nurturing financial discipline from an early stage
- Students will also get a chance to directly interact with EPFO officials, clarify queries, and learn how to use digital platforms for UAN registration, e-nomination, and online claims, reinforcing the importance of formal financial participation
- By reaching campuses, we hope to cultivate a culture of financial responsibility and trust in formal systems: EPFO
In a directive issued by the EPFO Headquarters, Regional Offices have been instructed to hold these Melas at colleges, universities, and technical institutes, ensuring wide participation from students, faculty, and youth organisations.
The Melas will feature interactive sessions, exhibitions, and audio-visual presentations highlighting EPFO schemes — including Provident Fund, Pension, and Employees’ Deposit Linked Insurance (EDLI) — and their role in securing long-term financial well-being.
Students will also get a chance to directly interact with EPFO officials, clarify queries, and learn how to use digital platforms for UAN registration, e-nomination, and online claims, reinforcing the importance of formal financial participation.
“The campaign is designed to help students understand how early savings and social security planning can shape a secure financial future,” an EPFO official said. “By reaching campuses, we hope to cultivate a culture of financial responsibility and trust in formal systems.”
The Social Security Awareness Melas will be held at the following institutions:
- Chennai North – Loyola College, Nungambakkam
- Chennai South – Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, Rajiv Gandhi Salai
- Ambattur – Rajalakshmi Engineering College, Thandalam
