Ex-RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan joins Congress-led Bharat Jodo Yatra in Rajasthan

  • Officials confirmed that Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra will have a week-long break, from December 24 to January 2, after crossing the Rajasthan-Haryana border.
  • On December 16, on the completion of 100 days of the yatra, Rahul Gandhi will go to Jaipur and participate in Sunidhi Chauhan’s music event there

Reserve Bank of India’s former governor Raghuram Rajan on Wednesday joined Rahul Gandhi during the Congress-led Bharat Jodo Yatra in Rajasthan.

Rahul Gandhi had a more than half-an-hour discussion with Rajan during the yatra.

The Bharat Jodo Yatra, which started from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu on September 7, is passing through Rajasthan. The yatra will complete 100 days on Friday.

The yatra resumed from the Bhadoti area of Sawai Madhopur on Wednesday and reached Badhshapura for a morning break.

Rajan walked with Gandhi during this leg of the yatra on Wednesday.

“#BharatJodoYatra Shri Raghuram Rajan, former Governor of RBI, shaking steps with @RahulGandhi ji… The increasing number of people standing up to unite the country against hatred shows that we will be successful,” The Indian National Congress tweeted along with a picture of Rajan walking with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

Dr Raghuram Rajan was the 23rd Governor of the Reserve Bank of India between September 2013 and September 2016 during the second term of the UPA and the initial years of the Modi government.

Between 2003 and 2006, he was the Chief Economist and Director of Research at the International Monetary Fund.

The yatra will resume at 3.30 pm and the evening break will be in Bagdi village of Dausa at 6.30 pm.

Rajan is known for keeping a frank opinion on economic issues. Both put forth their views on the economic issues for a documentary.

Officials confirmed that Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra will have a week-long break after crossing the Rajasthan-Haryana border. There will be a break in travel from December 24 to January 2.

Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said that on December 16, on the completion of 100 days of the yatra, Rahul Gandhi will go to Jaipur. All the passengers will participate in Sunidhi Chauhan’s music event there.
