Dr C Rangarajan, Former Governor of Reserve Bank of India on Sunday exhorted the budding civil servants act as “Agents of Change’’ and instrumental to uplift the economy and for the development of the people.

He was speaking at the 10th anniversary of Chennai-headquartered Kingmakers IAS Academy at a glittering event in Chennai on Sunday.

The Academy has so far produced over 650 bureaucrats – IAS, IPS, IFS and IRRS, said its Founder and CMD Prof Sathyashree Boominathan.

Addressing reporters, he said that the Academy stands tall among the civil services coaching institutes by producing the national topper Ishitha Kishore.

“Over 150 UPSC aspirants, who were given intensive coaching by the leading IAS officers from the academy passed out with flying colours during last year. They were conferred with Dr Kalam Excellence Awards 2023,’’ he added.

  • Through READY (Rural Empowerment And Development of Youth) program, Bhoominathan provides 100 percent scholarships to students who cannot afford the fees, especially those from economically weaker sections.

Prof Boominathan further added, “The academy took immense pride in highlighting the exceptional accomplishment of its student Ishitha Kishore, who secured the coveted All India Rank 1. This remarkable achievement underscores the dedication and perseverance demonstrated by the academy’s students, who overcame immense challenges to emerge victorious in one of India’s toughest examinations.’’

He said the civil services exam is renowned for its rigorous nature, demanding unwavering commitment and determination from aspirants. Kingmakers IAS Academy has played a pivotal role in transforming aspiring individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those from economically disadvantaged rural areas, into accomplished IAS officers. Through comprehensive training programs, exceptional faculty, and state-of-the-art facilities, the academy has empowered these students to achieve remarkable success. This year alone, the academy witnessed 151 candidates clearing the civil service exam, contributing to a total of 650+ successful candidates in the last decade.

The academy honored and felicitated over 30 candidates who displayed outstanding performance and emerged as shining stars in the civil service exams during 2022.

Ecstatic over the tremendous achievement, Prof Boominathan, who was instrumental force behind Kingmakers IAS Academy, said, “I congratulate Ishitha Kishore and all the successful candidates for their remarkable achievements. Addressing at the event Prof Boominathan further said, “On this momentous occasion, as we rejoice in the exceptional achievements of our aspirants, including the outstanding All India Rank 1 achiever, I am filled with humility and profound gratitude. This remarkable milestone reaffirms our commitment to nurturing talent and empowering dreams. Together, we have created a legacy of excellence, and I extend my heartfelt gratitude to every student, faculty member, and supporter who has been part of our incredible journey.”

Addressing the gathering, Retired IAS Officer and Personality Development Coach of the Academy Vivek Harinarayan said that mere clearing the written examination will not suffice to become a civil servant, one has to develop the required talent and positive attitude.

Padma Bhushan awardee and renowned Classical Dancer Dr Padma Subrahmanyam also spoke.

In a statement K Annamalai, State BJP Chief said, “A significant proportion of successful candidates in the Civil Service exams of 2022 have emerged from Kingmakers IAS Academy. This feat is particularly noteworthy as it includes several individuals who secured positions among the top 10 All India Toppers.”

The grand gala event was attended by more than 50 eminent personalities, including renowned individuals, including M M RAJENDRAN – Former Odisha Governor, G PRAKASH IAS – Commissioner Archives, G BALACHANDRAN IAS – Former Additional Chief Secretary of West Bengal,  DGP SR Jangid (Rtd), DGP PC Dogra (Rtd), DGP Mourya (Rtd), T K Viswanathan, Lok Sabha Former Secretary General and Arun Prasad, IES, Ministry of Labour and Employment.
