The NCC cadets of the Gujarat Directorate have so far distributed a total of 25,000 handmade masks to the needy people at 21 different locations in Gujarat under Exercise NCC Yogdan, a Defence release said.

This is in addition to 10,000 masks already distributed during their deployment. Five Group HQs under Gujarat Directorate distributed 5,000 masks each in their areas. The masks were distributed to various government hospitals at district headquarters and the district magistrates or district collectors, the release added.

Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Anand, Kheda, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, Surendranagar, Bhuj, Porbandar, Junagadh were some of the districts which got the benefits.

Further, NCC cadets enthusiastically participated in “Hu Pan Corona Warrior” campaign launched by Chief Minister Vijay Bhai Rupani. On May 22, they clicked photos with their grandparents showing care for the vulnerable.

On May 24, they spread awareness about Mask Suraksha and on May 26, they spread awareness on benefits of Aarogya Setu app. Their enthusiasm was greatly appreciated by people and elicited huge response from people.

The deployment of cadets under Exercise NCC Yogdan commenced on April 8 and terminated on May 19, after a period of 43 days.

Till date 13,956 cadets, 566 ANOs 535 PI staff, and 56 officers have downloaded the Aarogya Setu App and the process is continuing.
