Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah on Monday offered prayers at two of Tamil Nadu’s most revered shrines—the Arulmigu Aranganatha Swamy Temple in Srirangam and the historic Arulmigu Jambukeswarar Temple in Thiruvanai Kovil, Tiruchirappalli. He also joined the vibrant Pongal celebrations in the city, marking the harvest festival alongside the local community.

Reflecting on his visit to Srirangam, Shah shared in a post on X, “Fortunate to have offered pooja at the sacred Arulmigu Aranganatha Swamy Temple in Srirangam, Tamil Nadu. Prayed seeking blessings for the well-being of all the citizens of our country.”

After offering prayers at the Jambukeswarar Temple, he said, “Blessed to offer prayers at Arulmigu Jambukeswarar Temple in Thiruvanai Kovil, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. May the divine grace shower the strength to all to achieve greatness.”

Joining the Pongal celebrations later in the day, the Union Home Minister underlined the festival’s spiritual and cultural significance. “Glad to have joined the vibrant Pongal celebrations in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, today. This is a sacred festival that revives our deep bond with nature and our communities through gratitude and harmony,” he said.
Extending festive wishes, Shah added, “May it usher in the blessings of abundance, happiness, and good health for all.”
The visit highlighted the deep-rooted connection between faith, tradition and community life, with Pongal serving as a reminder of India’s civilisational values of thankfulness, harmony with nature and collective well-being.
