Institute of Kidney Diseases & Research Centre (IKDRC), designated as COVID-19 vaccination Centre by the Government of Gujarat, administered first 74 doses of CovidShield vaccine to its medical and non-medical staff of the institute.
The vaccination drive for IKDRC staff was inaugurated by Kutch MP Vinodbhai Chavda in the presence of staff members led by its Director Dr Vineet Mishra after attending live telecast of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s speech on television at 11 am.
Dr Mishra volunteered and enrolled himself as the first person to get vaccinated from the institute in the first phase of the drive to dispel any kind of misgivings and hesitation among staff members in taking the vaccine. The vaccination drive inoculated 41 male and 33 female staff of the institute by 5 pm on Saturday completing the highest number of vaccination in its staff members in Asarwa Civil Hospital Compound.
“I felt perfectly normal with no physiological side effects post-vaccination and sat comfortably for half-an-hour under observation at the vaccination booth,” Dr Mishra said.
The institute has made elaborate arrangements to deal with any type of eventuality if somebody develops discomfort after receiving vaccination shots with oxygen supply, defibrillator, and ICU facility assistance.
The vaccination drive for 1200 staff will continue for the next few days with a daily inoculation target of 100 persons in the first phase. The vaccination booth at IKDRC will continue to serve the next slot of corona warriors as per directions from the state government after vaccination of the IKDRC staff concludes.
