Air Marshal SK Ghotia PVSM VSM, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of South Western Air Command, Gandhinagar flagged in the ‘Dandi cycle expedition’ team at HQ SWAC, Vayushakti Nagar on January 26-Republic Day, a Defence PRO release said.
. South Western Air Command (SWAC) of the Indian Air Force had organized the five-day ‘Dandi Cycle Expedition’ from January 22 to 26 to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and to promote the ‘Fit India Movement’ along with ‘Swachchh Bharat Abhiyan’.
The expedition team consisting of 25 air warriors, including one lady, was flagged off by Air Marshal Sreekumar Prabhakaran VM, Senior Air Staff Officer, SWAC January 22.
The expedition team led by Air Vice Marshal AP Singh AVSM, pedaled down reverse of the famous route undertaken by Mahatma Gandhi. The team en route from Salt Satyagrah Memorial, Dandi to Gandhinagar interacted with schoolchildren and the general public in Navsari, Ankleshwar, Anand and Vadsar to spread the message of ‘Swachchh Bharat, Swasth Bharat’.
Air Marshal SK Ghotia PVSM VSM, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of South Western Air Command, Gandhinagar flagged in the cycling team at HQ SWAC, Vayushakti Nagar on January 26. Speaking on the occasion of the flag-in ceremony, Air Marshal SK Ghotia motivated all air warriors to utilize the bicycle as an alternative means of transport to save the non-renewable source of energy and to promote health and fitness. He also appreciated and lauded the efforts of the expedition team.
