JAISALMAR, JAN 30
A 15-day adventure activity ‘Run to Rann’ was organised under the aegis of Battle Axe Division based in Jaisalmer. A team of 11 individuals from the Division participated in the event which commenced at Jaisalmer on January 16, 2020, a Defence PRO release said.

The expedition team covered approximately 700 kilometres from Jaisalmer to Koteshvar and back to Jaisalmer over 15 days. Along the course of the expedition, the team carried out activities in various phases, which included Cycling, Relay Run and Camel Safari.

Major General Rakesh Kapoor, Vishisht Seva Medal, General Officer Commanding, Battle Axe Division flagged in the team on January 30, 2020, at Jaisalmer.

The team comprising one officer, two Junior Commissioned Officers and eight other ranks, were trained in Jaisalmer Military Station which helped them to cover the long journey with enthusiasm and zeal.

The expedition aimed to inculcate the spirit of adventure, physical fitness, self-confidence and esprit-de-corps in the troops. The expedition reached out to a maximum possible number of veterans and their next of kin and shared our gratitude for their unparalleled and selfless service to the nation. Besides, data of Veer Naaris and disabled soldiers residing in these areas were collected and awareness spread about the benefits extended to them by the Army. An awareness programme about the armed forces to motivate the young school children to join the armed forces was also conducted at various schools en route.
