Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Monday extended three municipalities (nagarpalikas) and merge them with three adjoining municipalities for their transparent, rapid and all-round planned development with administrative convenience and financial efficiency, a releas said.
Rupani exuded confidence that the joint municipalities will reduce the administrative expenditure at the local self-government level and better coordination of karma yogis (employees).
Accordingly, Surendranaga-Dudhrej Municipality will be merged with Wadhwan Municipality and its headquarters will be at Surendranagar. Navsari Municipality will be merged with Vijalpor and its headquarters will be at Navsari. Porbandar Municipality will be merged with Chhaya and its headquarters will be at Porbandar.
The government has appointed the three Prant Officers as Administrators of the Joint Municipalities and appointed Prant Officers other entities.
