The Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF), a charity arm run by Lions Club District 324 A1, an NGO and a part of UNO recognized Lions Clubs International (LCI), on Friday, said it has donated N95 Masks, PPE Kits, 3 ply masks, sanitizers, caps, and gloves worth ₹8 lakhs to four government-run medical colleges in Chennai for distribution among frontline corona warriors – healthcare professionals like doctors and paramedical staffers, said a spokesman of the Club.
According to the spokesman, the medical kits worth ₹8 lakhs were handed over to the deans of Stanley Medical College & Hospital, Kilpauk Medical College Hospital, Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, and Tamil Nadu Government Multi-Super-Speciality Hospital by Lions Club office-bearers.
Lions District Governor PMJF Lion K. Jeganathan handed over the medical kits to Dr.Venkatesh, RMO, Egmore Eye Hospital, Dr. Manimaran, Omandurar Medical College, Dr.S.Vijaya, Director, IOG Madras Medical College, Dr. Balasubramaniam, Govt. Stanley Medical College & Hospital, M.V.S. Prakash, Director, Egmore eye Hospital in the presence of Lions International and district officials Ln. M.Sridhar, Ln. S.Bose, Ln. Rajkumar, Ln. Rajesh Joshi, the release added.
Apart from this, the clubs so far had spent ₹ 51 lakhs towards feeding the needy people and for supplying healthcare products worth ₹20 lakh to the Greater Chennai Corporation Health Department officials.
To take an active interest in the civic, cultural, social, and moral welfare of the community, for combating the COVID 19 pandemic, the Lions Clubs in Tamilnadu have been providing healthcare products, provisions, and food packets through the police and local body authorities adhering the mandatory social-distancing and other safety guidelines, the spokesman said.
