Gujarat reported 919 new coronavirus positive cases on Sunday, taking the overall infection count in the state to 1,67,173, the health department said.

This is the second time within a week the number of single-day new cases came down to three digits.
On October 19, the state had reported 996 cases, dropping below the 1,000-mark for the first time in nearly three months.
With the death of seven more COVID-19 patients on Sunday, the number of fatalities rose to 3,689, the department said in a release.
A total of 963 patients recovered from the infection during the day, taking the count of patients discharged from hospitals in the state to 1,49,548, it said.
With this, the state’s recovery rate further improved to 89.46 percent.
A total of 51,370 tests were conducted in the state in the last 24 hours, which pushed the test count further to 57,42,742.
The number of active cases in the state stands at 13,936, with the condition of 65 patients being critical.
Surat continues to report the highest number of daily new cases. It recorded 227 new cases on Sunday, followed by Ahmedabad with 174 and Vadodara with 115.
Among other districts, Rajkot reported 97 new cases, Jamnagar 43, Gandhinagar 35, Bharuch 20, Mehsana, Bhavnagar, Morbi, and Junagadh 18 each, Kutch 16, Dahod and Sabarkantha 14 each, Gir Somnath 10, etc.
Of the seven deaths, Ahmedabad reported three, Surat two, and Patan and Vadodara one each.
A total of 51,370 coronavirus tests were conducted in the state in the last 24 hours, taking the number of samples tested so far to 57,42,742.
In the Union Territory of Daman Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli (DNH), three new cases were reported, taking the total number of cases here to 3,203.
Two more recoveries raised the number of such cases to 3,150.
Daman reported one new case and one recovery, while DNH reported two new cases and one recovery, officials said.

Ahmedabad reports 174 new cases, 3 deaths
The COVID-19 case count in Ahmedabad district grew to 41,455 with the addition of 174 cases on Sunday, the state health department said.
Three deaths during the day increased the number of fatalities in the district to 1,905, it said.
Its recovery count climbed to 35,973 after 107 patients got discharged on Sunday, the department said in a release.
Ahmedabad city reported 162 new cases and 99 recoveries, while the rural parts reported12 new cases and eight recoveries.
Of the three deaths, two were reported in Ahmedabad city and one in the rural parts, it added.
The number of micro containment areas in the city was revised to 92 after the removal of 12 such areas from the list and the addition of two, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) said.
As per the COVID-19 bulletin released by the AMC Sunday afternoon, the city’s north-west zone continues to report the highest number of active cases at 513, followed by the west zone with 507 such cases.
Out of seven zones in the city zones, the central zone continues to report the lowest number of cases actives cases at 317.
Surat: 227 cases reported, 253 recover on Sunday
Surat reported 227 COVID-19 cases, the highest for any district in Gujarat, on Sunday, taking its tally to 34,583, while the day also saw 253 people getting discharged and two succumbing to the infection, an official said.
The death toll in the district is now 1,007, he added.
“Surat city accounted for 166 of the 227 cases, and 180 of the 253 people discharged. It now has a recovery rate of 92.5 percent with 23,882 people having been discharged,” the official said.
“The number of patients quarantined stands at 21,568 while more than 8.5 lakh people have been surveyed in areas where cases have been reported. Currently, 442 patients are hospitalised while the bed capacity is 3,046,” the official said.
Among the eight city zones, Athwa leads with 4,814 cases, including 38 on Sunday, while Udhna has 2,178 cases, the lowest.
In rural Surat, Kamrej taluka has the highest 1,871 cases, including 89 deaths, while Umarpada is at the other end with just 78 cases and one death.
