NEW DELHI, JAN 18
The MoS for Defence, Sanjay Seth, interacted with cadets at the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Republic Day Camp (RDC) 2026 at Delhi Cantt on January 18, underscoring the role of youth in shaping a strong, self-reliant and values-driven India.
On arrival, the MoS for Defence was accorded a Guard of Honour by NCC cadets, followed by a stirring band performance by cadets from The Scindia School, Gwalior, setting the tone for a day celebrating discipline, service and leadership.
Addressing officers and cadets, the MoS for Defence said Republic Day is more than a national celebration, calling it a tribute to the Constitution and the sacrifices of freedom fighters. Highlighting the significance of NCC in nation-building, he described cadets as “the living bridge between India’s glorious past and its promising future” and said the Republic Day Camp reflects the discipline, commitment and leadership potential of India’s youth.
Urging cadets to embrace an indigenous, Swadeshi mindset, he pointed to the sharp rise in Indian startups—from about 800 to over two lakh—driven by initiatives such as Startup India. He encouraged young citizens to align innovation, patriotism and self-reliance as India advances towards long-term national goals.
Commending exemplary achievements, the MoS for Defence lauded 15 cadets who undertook the Veer Birsa Munda Cyclothon, cycling 1,300 km from Ranchi to Delhi to spread the message of national integration and the values of Veer Birsa Munda. He also appreciated 10 NCC cadets who summited Mount Everest in 2025, calling their feat a testament to courage, endurance and teamwork.
In his concluding remarks, the MoS for Defence urged cadets to remain grounded in duty, patriotism and constitutional values while facing future challenges, and to carry forward the same determination and hard work to build Viksit Bharat by 2047. He expressed gratitude to NCC officers and instructors for shaping future leaders and appealed to all to uphold the honour and dignity of the Tiranga, serving the nation with integrity.
As part of the visit, the MoS for Defence also toured the ‘Flag Area’, meticulously prepared by cadets from all 17 Directorates on social awareness themes, and the ‘Hall of Fame’, where cadets showcased the history, training activities and achievements of the NCC.
