In a role reversal of brutality, the policemen, including an SI, faced the ire of a ruling party politician for carrying out their duty of enforcing the lockdown rules in Chief Minister’s home district.
A viral video of former Member of Parliament and now in ruling Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) K. Arjunan thrashing a police officer after abusing him at a check post near Salem for asking e-Pass on Sunday night brought sympathy for the cops.
Watch how ex-MP Arjunan verbally abuses, pushes a Police officer and even kicks him for asking travel papers.
A common man would have been charged for
– Verbal abuse
– Obstructing duty
– Physical assault
– And, threaten to murder. But, he was let go!! pic.twitter.com/SGq4aNo2Tn

A video of the incident purportedly showed the former MP arguing with policemen, who were on duty at the check post on Sunday night, for not having an e-pass.
Arjunan, also a former MLA, allegedly abused and assaulted a police officer.
According to police, the former MP got furious when an officer sought the ID Card from the car driver during a vehicle check on Sunday night. As the police officer cautioned him against using foul language, Arjunan, in a fit of anger, abused and kicked a Sub-Inspector, police said.
Meanwhile, Arjunan said he was returning from his farm in Omalur in the district when police stopped him demanding an e-pass and identity card. He claimed that he informed police he is a former MP and an ex-legislator but they “did not allow me to proceed.” He said he got into an argument with a sub-inspector and claimed the latter abused him
In connection with this, the MP was booked for assault and other charges. Cases have been filed against K Arjunan under IPC Sections 294b (obscene act at public act) and 353 (assault to deter the public servant to discharge his duty).
