There is a saying in India that ‘there is nothing wrong to say thousand lies to get married.’ Love & marriage will bring some semblance of responsibility among youth. Marriage is akin to bull-taming (jallikkattu), an adventure game, played in South India during the harvest festival of Pongal. In this game, youth in their in prime sans any arm take risk to contain the bulls. Similarly, young brides with beauty and brain will transform the reckless youth into a responsible family man and loving hubby. Further, friendship is the only ship that will not sink and will survive any storm.
Indeed, a marriage is a sacred bonding of two families and blood lines and honesty is the bedrock upon which marriage lays the foundation of relationships.
Writer and director Vipul Sharma has succeeded in his mission of sending this strong message – friendship, love and marriage- with his excellent script and direction.
The film begins with an educated village quartet leading a life of merriment with digital distraction and liquor parties thrown by their gang leader Kaano (Tushar Sadhu). With the entry of Radhika (Twinkal Patel) in Kaano’s life, the film picks up the momentum.
At the instance of Kaano’s maternal uncle – mama (Anush Joshi), who advises his sister (Jaimini Trivedi) and brother-in-law (Prashant Barot) that for the sake of marriage one can tell thousand lies and put their son in the shackle of marriage.
Then the film unfolds with a rollercoaster ride of romance, comedy and friendship. Kaano is ably supported by his three bosom friends friends Bako (Jay Pandya), Jigo (Kushal Mistry) and Laalo (Deep Vaidya). The trios’ dialogue delivery of comic one-liners combined with acting prowess are rib-tickling and real stress-busters.
As a typical and dotting father, Utpal (Ragi Jani), to show green signal for the marriage he puts forth some conditions for the economic safety of his daughter Radhika to her lover Kaano. To impress his father-in-law, Kaano starts telling lies after lies about his wealth which lands him in quicksand. Tushar does justice to his role as Kaano with excellent performance and steal s the hearts. Twinkal Patel as Radhika is only a glamour quotient but delivers her best.
Villain Baablo Don (Om Bhatt) infuses fear with his fox like cunningness which adds the necessary masala to the film.
The cinematography of Sreekumar Nair is at its best.
Writer and Director Vipul Sharma deserves a pat for delivering a wholesome family entertainer.
