Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on Friday delivered a powerful, youth-focused address at the 18th Rozgar Mela, underlining how India’s demographic strength, reforms, and global engagement are reshaping the future of employment for young Indians.

Addressing the event via video conferencing, the Prime Minister said that the Rozgar Mela has evolved beyond a recruitment drive into a national institution. “In recent years, the Rozgar Mela has evolved into an institution and through it, lakhs of young people have received appointment letters in various government departments,” he said.

Calling the appointment letters a gateway to nation-building, Shri Modi noted that over 61,000 youth were beginning a new chapter in their lives on a day rich with constitutional significance. He described the moment as a pledge towards accelerating the journey of a Viksit Bharat.

The Prime Minister reminded the youth that their roles would directly strengthen national security, education, healthcare, financial services, energy security, and public sector enterprises, while extending heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all appointees.

Emphasising employment and skill-linkage as a core government priority, Shri Modi said recruitments were now being conducted in mission mode through Rozgar Melas, which are currently being organised at over 40 locations across the country.

“India today is among the youngest nations in the world; the government is consistently striving to create new opportunities for the youth both domestically and globally,” the Prime Minister said, adding that India’s trade and mobility agreements with numerous countries are opening “countless new opportunities for the youth of India.”

Highlighting the job-creating impact of infrastructure expansion, Shri Modi said unprecedented investments have boosted employment in construction and allied sectors. He pointed to the rapid growth of the startup ecosystem, noting that nearly two lakh registered startups employ over 21 lakh youth.

The Prime Minister said Digital India has fuelled a new economy, positioning the country as a global hub for animation, digital media, and creator-led industries, with the creator economy emerging as a major employment engine for young talent.

Linking global confidence to job growth, Shri Modi noted that India is the only major economy to have doubled its GDP in a decade, with over 100 countries investing through FDI. He said India has received more than two-and-a-half times higher FDI compared to the pre-2014 decade, translating directly into employment opportunities for youth.

Shri Modi highlighted India’s rise as a manufacturing powerhouse, citing strong growth in electronics, pharmaceuticals, vaccines, defence, and automobiles. He said electronics manufacturing has grown six-fold since 2014 to over ₹11 lakh crore, while exports have crossed ₹4 lakh crore. He also noted that two-wheeler sales crossed two crore units in 2025, reflecting rising purchasing power.

Drawing attention to women’s empowerment, the Prime Minister said over 8,000 daughters received appointment letters at the event. He noted that women’s workforce participation has nearly doubled in 11 years, with schemes like Mudra and Startup India driving a 15 percent rise in female self-employment. He added that women today are founders, directors, cooperative leaders, and drivers of grassroots growth.

“Today, the nation has embarked on the Reform Express, with the purpose to make both life and business easier across the country,” Shri Modi said. He underlined that GST reforms and historic labour reforms have expanded social security, empowered MSMEs, and benefited young entrepreneurs.

The Prime Minister urged newly appointed youth to be agents of change within government systems. He asked them to recall the difficulties citizens face and ensure such hardships are not repeated, stressing honesty, continuous learning, and adaptability in a fast-changing technological era.

Encouraging capacity building, Shri Modi highlighted platforms like iGOT Karmayogi, which has already empowered around 1.5 crore government employees. He concluded by urging youth to work with the spirit of “Nagrik Devo Bhava” and serve the nation with dedication.

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh was present among other dignitaries at the event.

Rozgar Mela is a flagship initiative aligned with the Prime Minister’s commitment to employment generation. Since its inception, over 11 lakh recruitment letters have been issued nationwide.

The 18th Rozgar Mela, held at 45 locations, inducted candidates into key Ministries and Departments including Home Affairs, Health & Family Welfare, Financial Services, and Higher Education, reinforcing the government’s youth-first employment push.
