In a stirring display of ambition, discipline and national pride, the Indian Army conducted the Agniveer Recruitment Rally for Women Military Police (WMP) on Wednesday at the District Sports Stadium, Katpadi, Vellore.

Organised by the Recruiting Office (Headquarters), Chennai, the rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from eligible female candidates from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and the Union Territory of Puducherry — each aspiring to earn a place in the Indian Army’s Women Military Police cadre.

Energy, Equality and the Olive Green Dream

The event unfolded in a well-organised, transparent and disciplined manner, strictly adhering to the laid down procedures and standards of the Indian Army.

The highlight of the rally was the high-spirited physical fitness run, formally flagged off by  V.K. Subbulakshmi, I.A.S., District Collector, Vellore.

Addressing the candidates, she commended their determination and encouraged them to serve the nation with dedication and pride.

Her presence added momentum and inspiration to the occasion, reinforcing the growing role of women in India’s defence forces.

A Model of Coordination and Safety

The successful conduct of the rally was made possible through proactive support and close coordination between the District Administration, Vellore, local police authorities, medical teams and other civil departments.

Their timely assistance ensured the smooth execution of the event in a safe, secure and structured environment — reflecting the Army’s commitment to transparency and fairness in recruitment.

Recruiting Office (Headquarters), Chennai, expressed sincere gratitude to the District Administration, local military authorities, police officials and all supporting agencies for their wholehearted cooperation in ensuring the rally’s success.

Empowering the Next Generation

The Women Military Police entry under the Agniveer scheme continues to open transformative opportunities for young women to step into leadership, discipline and national service.

With increasing participation from across southern India, the Vellore rally stands as a powerful reminder that the call of duty resonates strongly among India’s youth — and that the path to the olive green uniform is brighter and more inclusive than ever before.
