AHMEDABAD, SEPT 17
Can artificial intelligence help journalists break through information overload, sharpen their storytelling and stay ahead of the news curve—or will the race to automate make human judgement more important than ever? Ahmedabad’s media fraternity will have an opportunity to explore this rapidly evolving newsroom equation at a free workshop on “AI for Media & Journalists” on Saturday, September 26.
Presented by the Shri Shantilal Shah Centre for Media Excellence, Shreyarth University, Ahmedabad, the workshop aims to empower journalists, newsrooms and public relations professionals to become future-ready for the next era of media with AI.
The programme will be moderated by Vision Raval, AI and Automation expert, and is scheduled from 12.30 pm to 4 pm at HK College, Ashram Road, Ahmedabad.
AI meets the newsroom: Beyond the buzz
As artificial intelligence becomes an increasingly prominent part of the media and communications landscape, journalists and PR professionals face a changing set of opportunities and challenges.
The workshop seeks to bring this technological shift into sharper focus, placing AI in the context of media professionals and the evolving demands of their work.
Its central theme—empowering journalists, newsrooms and PR professionals to be future-ready—reflects the growing relevance of technological awareness across the media ecosystem.
A future-ready media workforce
The workshop’s focus extends beyond journalists to newsrooms and public relations professionals, recognising the wider transformation taking place in media and communications.
With AI and automation increasingly part of industry conversations, the programme offers an opportunity for participants to engage with emerging technologies and consider their relevance to professional practice.
Vision Raval to moderate the session
Vision Raval, identified in the event announcement as an AI and Automation expert, will moderate the four-hour programme.
The workshop is being organised by the Shri Shantilal Shah Centre for Media Excellence at Shreyarth University, Ahmedabad, with HK College on Ashram Road designated as the venue.
Registration opens for interested participants
The workshop is free, but participation is through registration only. The event announcement states that registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Interested participants can scan the QR code provided in the official workshop poster to register.
The big question for journalism
As AI moves from technological experimentation towards practical media applications, the challenge for journalists is to remain informed, adaptable and conscious of their professional responsibilities.
The Ahmedabad workshop presents an opportunity to examine the changing relationship between AI and media—and to consider how journalists can prepare for a future in which technological tools and human editorial judgement increasingly intersect.
From AI curiosity to newsroom capability, the workshop seeks to place practical tools in journalists’ hands while opening a window to the emerging world of news automation. It is aimed not only at journalist aspirants and budding journalists but also at senior professionals seeking to understand how AI can complement—rather than simply disrupt—contemporary journalism in the age of digitalisation.
