In a stirring salute to bravery, sacrifice and the indomitable spirit of India’s Gunners, the Regiment of Artillery, in collaboration with the Gunners of the Indian Navy and the Border Security Force (BSF), on Tuesday flagged off the Bharat Ranbhoomi Darshan Expedition from the historic coastal city of Dwarka.

The expedition was ceremonially flagged off by Jishnu Dev Varma, Governor of Telangana, in the presence of senior military officers, veterans, civil administration officials, NCC cadets, schoolchildren and citizens of Dwarka. Patriotic fervour filled the air as enthusiastic crowds cheered the contingent embarking on a journey that blends adventure with remembrance.
Flagging off the expedition, Governor Jishnu Dev Varma said, “The Bharat Ranbhoomi Darshan Expedition is a living tribute to the courage and sacrifice of our soldiers. By revisiting historic battlefields and engaging with citizens along the borders, this journey strengthens national unity and reminds every Indian of the price of our freedom.”

The expedition team will traverse over 3,400 kilometres along India’s western frontier, covering key border regions of Gujarat and Rajasthan, before culminating at the National War Memorial in New Delhi. Along the route, the team will pay homage at war memorials, interact with border villagers and veterans, and reaffirm the nation’s gratitude to its defenders.
A senior Artillery officer present at the flag-off remarked, “This expedition is not merely a physical journey; it is an emotional and moral one. It reinforces the ethos of the Gunners and showcases the seamless jointmanship between the Army, Navy and BSF in safeguarding the nation.”

Dwarka—one of India’s most ancient and spiritually significant cities—was chosen as the starting point for its symbolism of resilience, faith and national heritage. Its strategic coastal location also highlights the Indian Navy’s pivotal role in securing maritime frontiers, adding a deeper strategic dimension to the expedition.
Throughout the journey, teams will engage with serving personnel, veterans and local communities, particularly the youth, to ignite patriotism and awareness of India’s rich military legacy. A BSF officer noted, “By interacting with border communities and young citizens, we hope to inspire respect for the Armed Forces and encourage future generations to serve the nation with pride.”
The Bharat Ranbhoomi Darshan Expedition stands as a powerful testament to the Armed Forces’ unwavering commitment to India—honouring the fallen, celebrating the present, and inspiring the future. As the convoy moves forward from Dwarka, it carries with it a clarion message of unity, remembrance and unshakeable resolve.
