With companies across the globe fast adopting cutting-edge technologies in their business processes, automating key functions, and leveraging digital solutions to stay ahead of the curve, The Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and other industry bodies have already initiated measures to prepare a future-ready workforce by working in tandem with the higher education institutes and the Central, state governments, said Pathik Patwari, Chairman of ICC Gujarat Council here on Wednesday.
“This disruption brought by AI and ML are bringing changes in existing job roles and creating new career opportunities in specific fields, necessitating efforts to prepare a future-ready workforce. As a result of tech-based disruptions and the increasing pace of digitalisation and automation, it becomes a necessity for educational institutions to emphasise creating future-ready curriculum and courses which can bridge existing gaps and meet future demands efficiently. Future-ready workforce is a national issue and all stakeholders are working in tandem to resolve this vital issue by upskilling the students and updating the curriculum. The industry is ready to pay extra to industry-ready students. While the students will have better package from the beginning of their career, the industries will get suitable candidate,” said Patwari.
He was speaking on the sidelines of The Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Centenary Celebrations in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on Wednesday..
Today, it boasts a robust network of 15 regional offices across India and representation in 25 countries around the world. ICC’s domestic presence has expanded across India, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and Tripura to Gujarat, with new offices in states like Rajasthan, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, and Kerala. Looking ahead, ICC aims to strengthen its presence nationwide and engage with key global growth nodes, further solidifying its role as a catalyst for progress.
ICC has played a vital role in strengthening synergies between India and its Asian neighbours, expanding its network through national and international MoUs with industry associations and key stakeholders. Our presence in global forums like BIMSTEC, APAC, and IMEC continues to grow. The centenary celebrations highlight ICC’s legacy of transformative change. As Indian business has evolved, ICC has adapted through impactful policy advocacy, earning widespread recognition at government levels.

Earlier on that day, the delegation led by Abhyuday Jindal – President ICC, Pathik Patwari – Chairman of ICC Gujarat Council and Dr. Rajeev Singh, Director General ICC met Balvantsinh Rajput, Minister of Industries, MSME and Rural Industries to discuss projects for the MSME industries which the chamber will take up under the aegis of the State Government. The delegation also had the opportunity to meet S J Haider, Additional Chief Secretary, Energy and Petrochemicals Department, Mamta Verma Principal Secretary, Industries department and Sandip Sagale, Industries Commissioner to discuss aspects of Trade and Industries development in the state.
The ICC delegation also signed an MoU with iHub, Gujarat Student Startup and Innovation Hub, a vibrant incubation setup established under SSIP by the Education Department, Government of Gujarat. Under this MoU, ICC will help the start-ups incubated by the iHub.
There were discussions to put the new inventions into action providing the startups a much-needed Launchpad for growth.
The day ended with a memorable session on ‘Shubh Labh Model of Business’ recited by renowned Mythologist and Author – Devdutt Pattanaik offering a unique perspective on culture, leadership and storytelling.
