The automobile manufacturer was scheduled to introduce the new Honda City in April 2020, but had to postpone the launch due to the nationwide lockdown courtesy the Covid-19 pandemic. Now, the fifth-generation Honda City will be sold alongside the fourth-generation Honda City in India.
Honda City Exterior Features
The fifth-generation Honda City’s design is inspired by the Japanese Katana blade, a type of curved sword used by samurai. The front fascia of the mid-size sedan is completely new and boasts of a fresh chrome grille. The new Honda City features full LED headlamps with nine LED inline shells, integrated LED DRLs and L-shaped LED turn signals. You might find a hint of similarity between the headlamps of the 2020 Honda City and Honda Civic. The rear is characterised by Z-shaped 3D wrap-around LED tail lamps. Also available are 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and shark fin antenna.
Honda City Interior Features
We bet you will be highly impressed with the dual-tone beige and black cabin of the fifth-generation City. The dash has been done in soft material. The 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system is the prime attraction of the centre console and is compatible with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Weblink. The AC dials with red/blue illumination might appeal more to some customers. There is a new 7-inch HD full colour TFT MID giving a plethora of data. The multi-function steering wheel has paddle shifters for CVT variants. Among other notable features in the 2020 City are remote engine start, engine one-push start/stop, electric sunroof, rear sunshade, ambient lighting and LED interior lamps.
Honda City Connectivity Features
Honda Cars India claims that the new City is the country’s first connected car with Alexa remote capability. The 2020 City gets the Honda Connect with Telematics Control Unit (TCU) that offers more than 32 connected features. The new connectivity technology will offer a variety of functionalities like stolen vehicle tracking, geo-fence alert, security alert, and auto crash notification and emergency assistance.
Honda City Engine, Transmission, Mileage
The fifth-generation Honda City will have BS6-compliant petrol and diesel engine choices. The petrol motor will be a 1.5-litre i-VTEC DOHC with VTC (variable valve timing control) petrol unit producing 121PS and 145Nm of peak torque. The ARAI-certified mileage for the 2020 City petrol with 6-speed MT is 17.8kmpl and 7-speed CVT is 18.4 kmpl. The diesel mill will be a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel unit delivering 100PS and 200Nm of maximum torque. With 6-speed MT, the ARAI-certified mileage for the 2020 City diesel is 24.1kmpl.
