Allahabad High Court has said that the Indian Parliament should bring a Bill to give fundamental rights to cows and declare it as the national animal and give stern punishment to those who harm the animal, reports ‘Bar and Bench’.
The observations were made by Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav while denying bail to one Javed who was charged by the police for offences under thePrevention of Cow Slaughter Act in Uttar Pradesh.
“The work of cow protection is not only of one religious sect, but the cow is the culture of India and the work of saving the culture is of every citizen living in the country, irrespective of religion,” Bar and Bench quoted the judge having said.
“Jab gaaye ka kalyaan hoga, tabhi desh ka kalyaan hoga (only if the cow is revered, the country will prosper),” the bail order said.
