Aiming to recognise the Non-Resident Gujaratis for preserving the rich Gujarati language, culture and philanthropic activities in their places of settlement in the United States of America and all those helped the needy in Vibrant Gujarat, the Global Gujarati Federation (GGF) will honour them with Salute India NRI Awards and Salute India Awards in Ahmedabad on Monday, announced Ramesh Tanna, Founder, GGF, here on Saturday.
Eminent journalist Padmashri Kumarpal Desai and Padmashri Joravarsinh Jadav will be the chief guests.
The awards function will be organised at the Ahmedabad Management Association between 2 pm and 5 pm on Monday.
As many as 11 awards will be conferred under two different categories. While Salute India NRI Awards will be conferred on 8 NRIs in US, three Salute India Awards will be given to Gujaratis in the state. These annual awards given to talented and committed NRIs who have contributed for the society in various sectors like arts, culture, education, healyhcare and women empowerment etc, Tanna added.
Ramesh Tanna also said, “More than 2 crore Indians are settled abroad out of which 35% are Gujaratis. The GGF identifies the NRIs who have contributed a lot for the society and our country. Itfelicitates such people every year.”
He also said, “On this occasion two books in Gujarati-Samajni Shradhha and Positive Stories – will also released by the people who are featured in this book.”
The eight Salute India NRI Award winners from US are Piyushbhai Patel, Harishbhai Surati,
Manishaben Pandya, Bhagvatiben Shah,Subhashbhai Shah, Vishnubhai Patel, Dr Nirali Ashok Patel and Nisarg Trivedi.
The Salute India Awardees are Ramaben Pandya, Pratapbhai Pandya (posthumous)-both Vadodara and Ravjibhai Vasani-Ahmedabad.
