To raise awareness of the importance of hand-washing with soap, a virtual painting contest was organized by a private school in Ahmedabad on Thursday, Global Handwashing Day.
As COVID-19 pandemic provides a stark reminder that hand-washing is one of the simplest ways to prevent the spread of any virus and ensure better health outcomes overall. This year’s Global Handwashing Day theme is Hand Hygiene for all, calling for all of society to achieve universal hand hygiene now and for the future.
Commemorating Global Handwashing Day, Calorx Public School, Ghatlodia and PRSI Ahmedabad Chapter, hosted a campaign to sensitize the Primary Age group Pupils of Grade I to V, about the essence of Handwashing -with the motto to instill it as a value and life-long habit. To initiate, as a warm-up activity, the students were invited to participate in an offline Drawing /Painting Competition based on the theme – Significance of Handwashing. More than 850 students were invited to send in their creative thoughts and out of which 25 class-wise best drawings were shortlisted.
An interactive Live session was organised for the students of Calorx Public School, Ghatlodia, with the Speakers, Ekta – Director, Branding & Advertising, Jameck Services India Pvt Ltd, Suman Mittal, Academic Coordinator, Calorx Public School, Rajat Gupta, founder of Starcocare Research Labs. The virtual session witnessed the attendance of 900 + Pupils, teachers, and parents.
The Headmistress, Calorx, Ghatlodia – Smriti Ramisetty, did the warm opening with a brief introduction of the campaign and the speakers. She also highlighted the tireless effort and rigorous planning done by the team of members at Calorx, Ghatlodia, and PRSI Ahmedabad Chapter to ensure the message reaches the roots, with it she invited Subhojit Sen – PRSI Ahmedabad Chapter, to take over as the moderator of the session. Subhojit congratulated the Children.
Ekta, Director, Branding & Advertising, Jameck Services India Pvt Ltd. thanked the Principal Nirali Dagli, Head Mistress Smriti Ramisetty, and teachers for initiating such an important campaign during this pandemic times and then congratulated the Kids and their parents for such wonderful creative efforts.

Suman Mittal, Academic Coordinator, Calorx Public School shared, “Good habits can be inculcated in the childhood stage of every student. Participation in various competitions like painting will make the students more confident, disciplined, curious, and will develop an attitude of readiness for everything. Celebrating global handwashing day will promote awareness about the usefulness of handwashing frequently among the primary students.”
Rajat Gupta, founder of Starcocare Research Labs, shared , “As we grapple with this Pandemic that has raged and brought the government to their knees, a humble habit has become the greatest weapon against this contagious disease. Yes, I am talking about the habit of hand wash as we celebrate the 15th Oct as global handwashing day. This day could not have come at a more opportune time. The habit of washing hands needs to be inculcated among children right from their early days. As the world becomes more connected, another pandemic is round the corner and a habit like washing hands would go a long way in securing precious lives.”
