The Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) on Saturday announced that it has conducted the trial runs on North-South Corridor from Gyaspur Depot to Motera on Friday. Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project Phase-I consists of two corridors: 1) North-South Corridor from Gyaspur Depot to Motera and 2) East-West Corridor from Thaltej Gam to Vastral Gam.
North-South (NS) corridor from Gyaspur Depot to Motera Metro Station is having length of 18.89 kilometres and 15 elevated metro stations. Gyaspur Depot is ready and train trials from Gyaspur Depot to Jivraj were started in March-2022, thereafter trials were conducted up to Vijaynagar.

The GMRCL started metro train trial from Gyaspur Depot to Motera Metro Station on Friday. During Trial, Metro train reached Motera Metro Station via APMC, Jivraj, Rajivnagar, Shreyas, Paldi, Gandhigram, Old High Court, Usmanpura, Vijaynagar, Vadaj, Ranip, AEC and Sabarmati metro stations, says a release.
Now, further trials and remaining activities will be carried out to ensure timely completion of the work for train operations. After completion, GMRC will request Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) for the inspection of Depot and entire length of North-South Corridor. Simultaneously, work is under progress in East-West corridor from Apparel Park to Thaltej.
The GMRC will request CMRS to carry out necessary statutory process and accord permission for train operations so that Ahmedabad train operation in both corridors can be commissioned by the end of August 2022.
