What do tomorrow’s cities need most—smart tech, green parks, or climate-friendly infrastructure? The answer, according to architects and consumers engaging in the latest season of Godrej Value Co-Creators Club (GVCC) VC Live, is clear: sustainable design must be the defining trend in urban architecture.
- Architects and consumers align on demand for safer, greener, and more resilient cities
- Polling thousands of participants, the 5-part series revealed that 51% believe design approach—not just materials or technology—has the greatest impact on sustainability
- The findings also reflect the aspirations of consumers who will ultimately live in these urban spaces. Parks and green spaces topped the list of priorities, far ahead of bike lanes or community centers
Architects See Design as the Game-Changer
The five-part knowledge-sharing series, hosted by Godrej Locks & Architectural Solutions, brought together architects, urban designers, and industry professionals to explore how urban spaces can become safer, smarter, and more human-centric. Polling thousands of participants, the series revealed that 51% believe design approach—not just materials or technology—has the greatest impact on sustainability.
More than 60% identified sustainable design as the single most important factor shaping the future of architecture, ranking it higher than both smart technology and community-centered planning. This insight places architects firmly at the heart of shaping future cities—not just as designers, but as custodians of ecological balance and social well-being.
Consumers Call for Green, Open Spaces
The findings also reflect the aspirations of consumers who will ultimately live in these urban spaces. Parks and green spaces topped the list of priorities, far ahead of bike lanes or community centers. Safety, walkable streets, and reliable public transport were also flagged as essentials for livable cities.
This consumer perspective echoes the growing demand for healthy, breathable, and climate-conscious living environments, where architecture not only provides shelter but also nurtures quality of life.
A Platform for Shared Futures
Reflecting on the momentum of the series, Shyam Motwani, Business Head – Locks & Architectural Solutions, Godrej Enterprises Group, said:
“Through VC Live, we aim to connect global thought leaders with India’s design and architecture community, sparking conversations that inspire real change. The feedback from architects and end-users alike is a clear call for design that protects the planet, strengthens human connections, and boldly reimagines how our cities can work for everyone.”
Beyond Conversations: Tools for Architects and Designers
For architects, GVCC offers more than just discussions—it provides access to exclusive design insights, trend reports, rewards, and recognition through initiatives like the GeeVees Awards. By giving professionals the tools to integrate sustainability seamlessly into their work, the platform helps bridge the gap between what consumers want and what architects can deliver.
A Shared Responsibility
With cities growing denser and environmental challenges mounting, the series underlines a critical truth: sustainable design is no longer optional—it is the future of architecture. For architects, this means reimagining spaces that go beyond aesthetics to deliver resilience and inclusivity. For consumers, it means demanding homes and public spaces that protect their well-being and that of the planet.
With its VC Live series and GVCC platform, Godrej Locks & Architectural Solutions continues to champion collaboration between architects, urban thinkers, and consumers—ensuring that India’s urban future is designed not just for growth, but for safety, sustainability, and human connection.
