General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Golden Katar Division Major General Mohit Wadhwa will flag off the leg of BRO motorcycle expedition team from the Army Public School ground here on Saturday, says a release.
The team will proceed to the national capital by riding through the deserts of Bhuj, Barmer and Bikaner and the plains of Amritsar and Ferozpur by December 25, 2021. On the last leg, after passing through the deserts, the team will reach New Delhi on December 27, 2021.
As part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahoutsav’ celebration, Border Road Organization (BRO) has undertaken a motorcycle Expedition on October 14 from New Delhi. It was flagged off by the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
After covering almost 17,000 kms during its journey through the four corners and border areas of the country in 6 legs, it reached Ahmedabad on Thursday amidst rousing welcome. The final 7th leg commenced here on Friday.
The expedition took this opportunity to interact with the school children of Kendriya Vidyalay No-1, Shahibaug, as well as the youth, including the NCC cadets of the Govt Polytechnic College to rekindle the spirit of patriotism and achievements of the BRO in developing the remote border areas of the country as well as the supreme sacrifices made by its veterans.
The expedition also spread the awareness of carrier opportunities of the BRO to the youth. A medical camp was organized at the Baba Sitaram Senior citizen park, where hundreds of elderly citizens benefited from the program. The medical camp also paid tribute to the victims of the Sulur helicopter crash which included the late CDS General Bipin Rawat and 13 others.
