A great deal of dedication is required to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) to ensure access every one the basic needs – clean water, sanitation, reliable energy, etc, said LKM Aadhi, CMD, Knittwel Needle Private Limited, Hosur here on Thursday.
Participating as chief guest at the seminar on “Engineering for a healthy planet’’ organized by the Hosur Local Chapter of the Institution of Engineers (India) to mark the World Engineers Day at Adhiyaman College of Engineering, Aadhi stressed the effective need to address climate change and environmental issues.
He exhorted the youth to become an engineering graduate to change the world. He also said effective steps are needed to replenish natural resources.
Dr G Ranganath, Founder-Chairman, Institution of Engineers (India) Hosur Local Chapter and Principal, Adhiyamaan College of Engineering said, “Celebrating World Engineers Day is an opportunity to engage with government and industry to address the need for engineering capacity and improve the quality of engineers around the world. It would help to draft strategic frameworks and best practices for the implementation of engineering solutions to achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.”
The Centre Chairperson Dr T Menakadevi said that the World Engineering Day is also about promoting engineering as a career and how it is an opportunity to change the world for the better.
Dr J Arivudainambi, Immediate Past Chairman, and Dr.V.Manivasagan, Immediate past Honorary Secretary of Hosur Local Chapter of the Institution of Engineers (India) made arrangements for the celebration.
