Greater Chennai Corporation Mayor R Priya on Thursday launched the “Cleanliness drive” organised by the office of the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (Tamil Nadu & Puducherry), Chennai.

It was held at “Nandavanam”, Central Revenue Quarters, 15th Main Road, Anna Nagar West, Chennai – 600040.

The 9th consecutive Swachhata Pakhwada Campaign is being observed in the year 2024.
After the inauguration, R Priya, Mayor of Greater Chennai Corporation, said, “Swachhata Pakhwada mission was initiated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi to make our country clean. Cleanliness should be an essential part of everyone’s life to be developed as a habit. It is important to focus on cleanliness, as we have to make sure that the environment is preserved for future generation.”
During the occasion, Chief Guest R Priya, Mayor, GCC, Sunil Mathur, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (TN & P) and L Rajasekhar Reddy, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (TDS), Chennai planted saplings at “Nandavanam”.
Around 300 Senior Officers, Officials and family members of the Income Tax fraternity joined the cleanliness drive at “Nandavanam”.
Addressing the gathering, the Principal CCIT emphasised the importance of a clean environment by pointing out that cleanliness leads to better health and better health leads to prosperity of the community and the nation.
During the current Swachhta Pakhwada being organised from 16th January 2024, till now, around 1,000 Officers and Officials of the Income Tax Department have participated in various cleanliness programmes all over Tamil Nadu & Puducherry region with the aim to help the nation to reach the dream of a “Clean India, Healthy India & Prosperous India”.
