Gujarat recorded 1,175 fresh coronavirus positive cases on Sunday, which increased its infection tally to 2,27,683, the state health department said.
With 11 patients succumbing to the viral disease, including eight in Ahmedabad and three in Surat, the fatality count in the state rose to 4,171, it said.
A total of 1,347 patients were discharged during the day, pushing the number of recovered cases in the state to 2,10,214, the department said in the statement.
The number of active cases is 13,298, it said.
As many as 55,989 tests were conducted throughout the state on Sunday. With this, the total count of samples tested so far went up to 86,69,576.
At 247, Ahmedabad recorded the highest number of new cases in the state in the day, followed by 172 in Surat, 152 in Vadodara, and 129 in Rajkot, the department said.
Gandhinagar reported 52 new cases, Mehsana 51, Jamnagar 45, Amreli 29, Kutch 28, Patan 25, Junagadh 23, Sabarkantha 22, Anand 21, Banaskantha and Dahod 20 each, Bhavnagar, Panchmahal and Surendranagar 19 each, Khed 15, Bharuch 14, Morbi 12, etc.
In the Union territory of Daman, Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, the total number of COVID-19 cases stood at 3,327, and active cases 17. 3,308 patients have recovered so far.

Ahmedabad sees 247 cases, 8 deaths; 268 recover
Ahmedabad recorded 247 COVID-19 cases on Sunday, the highest for any district in Gujarat, taking the infection count to 53,961, while eight deaths increased the toll to 2,173, an official said.
The day also saw 268 people, comprising 257 from city limits and 11 from rural areas, getting discharged, taking the tally of recoveries to 48,787, he added.
“Of the new cases, the city accounted for 239 and the rural parts eight. The latter now has 3,765 cases, while 3,683, or 98 per cent, have recovered,” the official said.
An Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation official said its north-west zone had 473 active cases, followed by the west with 462 and the south-west with 421.
The number of micro containment areas in AMC limits is 87, down from 98, he said.
Surat reports 172 new cases, 241 recoveries, 3 deaths
A total of 172 new coronavirus positive cases and three deaths were reported in Surat district of Gujarat on Sunday, the state health department said.
With the new cases, the infection tally in Surat rose to 46,348, while the fatality count increased by three to 1,103, it said.
Surat reported 241 recoveries during the day.
While Surat city reported 148 new cases and 203 recoveries, the rural parts logged 24 new cases and 38 recoveries.
In the city, a total 32,854 patients have been discharged so far, taking the recovery rate to 98.98 per cent, the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) said.
Athwa locality in Surat city has reported the highest number of 6,607 cases so far, followed by Katargam with 5,675 cases, it said.
In rural parts of the district, Kamrej taluka leads with a total 2,405 cases reported so far, followed by Choryasi with 2,316 cases. Kamrej also leads with 91 deaths due to the virus so far, said the officials.
