Gujarat reported 1,010 fresh COVID-19 cases on Sunday, increasing the infection tally in the state to 2,35,299, the health department said.
With the death of seven patients, including five in Ahmedabad and one fatality each in Surat and Vadodara, the overall toll rose to 4,234, it said.
A total of 1,190 patients were discharged from hospitals during the day, taking the count of recoveries to 2,19,125, the department said in a release.
The state”s recovery rate is now 93.13 percent, it said.
There are 11,940 active cases in the state at present.
Ahmedabad accounted for 215 new cases in the day, Surat 166, Vadodara 144, and Rajkot 113, the department said.
Gandhinagar reported42 new cases, while Mehsana, Panchmahal, and Jamnagar each added 28 infections. Kheda added 26 infections, Bharuch 25, and Bhavnagar 22. Kutch and Junagadh added 17 cases each, Banaskantha and Dahod 16 each, Anand 14, Patan 12, while Sabarkantha and Surendranagar each added 11 cases, etc.
No new case was reported from the Union Territory of Daman, Diu, Dadra, and Nagar Haveli. The total number of cases in the UT stood at3,335.
With one patient getting discharged, the count of recoveries rose to 3,325.
The UT is now left with eight active cases.

Ahmedabad see 215 cases, 5 deaths, while 217 recover
Ahmedabad on Sunday added 215 COVID-19 cases to its infection tally while the number of people who got discharged post recovery was higher at 217, an official said.
The caseload in the district is now 55,585, of which 50,374 have recovered, including 47,000 in areas under the civic corporation, he said.
The toll in the district increased by five during the day to reach 2,210, he added.
“The city accounted for 207 of the new cases and 206 of the people discharged, while the rest were reported from rural areas. The city has 2,505 active cases, with the north-west zone accounting for 426 and west zone 418. The number of micro containment areas stands at 19,” said the civic official.
Surat district reports 166 fresh cases; 162 recover
The COVID-19 tally in Surat district rose to 47,533 on Sunday with the addition of 166 new cases, the state health department said.
With one person succumbing to the viral disease, the death toll in the district mounted to 1,119, it said.
A total of 162 people recovered in the day, the department said in a release.
Surat city recorded 130 new cases and 135 recoveries, while rural parts added 36 new infections and 27 recoveries.
Surat city’s recovery rate rose to 95.37 percent with a total of 33,920 recoveries so far, said the Surat Municipal Corporation.
A total of 11,331 persons remained quarantined in the city, it said.
In Surat city, Athwa locality recorded the highest number of 6,800 cases until now. In rural Surat, Kamrej taluka leads with 2,456 infections, officials said.
