- It will create at least 10,000 high-value jobs for TN youth, and developing a skilled workforce ready to take on future opportunities in space technologies and services.
Under the leadership of chief minister Bhupendra Patel, the government aims to be a frontrunner in space innovation. “Through the new policy, the government aims to attract investments worth USD 5 billion over the next five years and create employment for 25,000 people,” principal secretary of science and technology Mona Khandhar said.
A statement issued by the government said that the policy, inspired by the legacy of the father of the Indian space programme, Vikram Sarabhai, seeks to “foster innovation, attract investment, and drive private sector participation in India’s rapidly growing space economy.”
It supports the full range of space sector activities, including satellite payload manufacturing, communication and propulsion systems, ground stations, satellite control centres, and space-based application design, it added.
“The SpaceTech Policy offers comprehensive fiscal and non-fiscal incentives to support the entire spectrum of space sector activities, including satellite payload and component manufacturing, communication and propulsion systems, ground stations, satellite control centres, and space-based application design. To further strengthen the ecosystem, the state government will establish a Centre of Excellence in Space Technologies to promote skill development, research, and innovation,” the statement further read.
In collaboration with the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) and the department of space, Gujarat plans to develop a dedicated space manufacturing park equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and common technical facilities, as per the policy.
It also complements Gujarat’s existing policies for electronics, semiconductors, IT/ITeS, and Global Capability Centres (GCCs), reinforcing the state’s role in high-tech manufacturing and leveraging India’s space achievements like Chandrayaan, Mangalyaan, and SpaDeX.
The policy will attract investments of ₹10,000 crore into Tamil Nadu’s space sector, creating at least 10,000 high-value jobs

Tamil Nadu on Friday became one of the first Indian states to have a dedicated space policy. The state Cabinet cleared the Tamil Nadu Space Policy, positioning Tamil Nadu as a hub for space innovation, high-value manufacturing, and tech-driven job creation, T R B Rajaa, Minister for Industries, Government of Tamil Nadu.
The move is expected to attract investments of ₹10,000 crore into Tamil Nadu’s space sector, creating at least 10,000 high-value jobs in the sector for talented youth. The policy is also targeted at building a future-ready, skilled workforce in space technologies and services.
In a social media post, the minister said, “Tamil Nadu is strapping on boosters to liftoff into the #spacetech orbit! In a landmark decision today, the Tamil Nadu Cabinet has approved the Tamil Nadu Space Industrial Policy 2025, a bold blueprint to catapult our state into the high-orbit economy of space technology and advanced manufacturing.”
He described this new policy as a bold blueprint to launch the state into a high-growth economy driven by space technology and advanced manufacturing.
The minister also shared that the policy is built on three major pillars: attracting Rs 10,000 crore worth of investments into the space sector, creating at least 10,000 high-value jobs for the youth, and developing a skilled workforce ready to take on future opportunities in space technologies and services.
The minister stated that, under the leadership of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, the policy is not just a mission plan, but a key step toward achieving the state’s goal of becoming a one trillion-dollar economy.
This policy is not just for manufacturing; it will also focus on space-tech services and downstream innovation. This will open doors for startups, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and large players alike. Special incentive packages will be created for small startups and big companies setting up in the upcoming Space Bays — dedicated industrial zones tailored for the space industry.
