Gujarat BJP unit president C R Paatil on Tuesday said he recovered from COVID-19 disease and will be discharged on Wednesday.
Paatil tweeted that his latest RT-PCR test report returned negative.
“My RT-PCR report came negative today and I will be given discharge on Wednesday. I want to thank everyone who prayed for my recovery,” he tweeted.
Paatil was admitted to a private hospital in Gandhinagar on September 9 after testing positive for coronavirus.
Gujarat BJP spokesperson Bharat Pandya also tweeted about his recovery from coronavirus infection on Tuesday.
Pandya was discharged from a government hospital after undergoing treatment for seven days.
Gujarat reports 1,349 cases; record 1,444 discharged
The coronavirus count in Gujarat rose to 1,16,345 on Tuesday with the addition of 1,349 new cases, while a record 1,444 patients recovered from the infection, the state health department said.
With 17 more fatalities in the last 24 hours, including five in Surat, the death toll increased to 3,247, the department said.
Also, 1,444 patients were discharged from hospitals, the highest single-day recovery, taking the number of such cases in the state to 96,709, it said, adding that there are 16,389 active cases.
With this, the state”s recovery rate stood at 82.84 percent, the department said in a release.
As many as 78,182 tests were conducted in the state in the last 24 hours at a rate of 1,202.80 tests per day per million population, it said.
This took the number of samples tested in the state so far to 34,38,500.
Of the total 17 fatalities, four occurred in Ahmedabad, three in Jamnagar, two in Vadodara, while one person died each in Gandhinagar, Mehsana, and Rajkot.
At 277, Surat reported the highest number of new cases in the state in the day.
Ahmedabad (172), Rajkot (141), Vadodara (129), and Jamnagar (123) are the four districts that reported more than 100 cases in the day in the state.
Elsewhere, Mehsana reported 49 new cases, Patan 45, Gandhinagar 43, Bhavnagar 38, Junagadh 35, Amreli 30, Panchmahal 29, Morbi 28, and Banaskantha 24.
Kutch and Mahisagar added 19 patients each, followed by Surendranagar at 18, Dahod 17, Bharuch 16, Gir Somnath 14, and Botad 12, while Kheda and Sabarkantha added 10 cases each, it said.
Gujarat COVID-19 figures are as follows: Positive cases 1,16,345, new cases 1,349, deaths 3,247, discharged 96,709, active cases 16,389, and people tested so far 34,38,500.
Surat tally hits 25,000-mark; 5 die, 265 recover
Surat’s COVID-19 tally rose to 25,000 on Tuesday with the addition of 277 new cases in the south Gujarat district, the state health department said.
With five more fatalities, the death toll in the district rose to 879, it said.
As many as 265 patients were discharged on Tuesday – 188 in the city and 77 in rural parts of the district – the department said in a release.
Out of the 277 new cases, 173 were reported in the city and 104 in the rural parts, it said.
As part of its drive to detect “super spreaders,” the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) on Tuesday conducted tests on 855 people who work at paan shops and tea stalls in the city, the release said.
Of these, seven people tested positive for the infection, it said.
Offices and other workplaces in Surat city will have to appoint “COVID nodal officers”, who will ensure effective measures are being taken to prevent the spread of the virus, and “master trainers”, who will train employees on issues related to the pandemic, the SMC said.
The SMC said in its effort to increase compliance of rules related to social distancing and wearing masks, it has so far collected around Rs 1.91 crore as fine from over 44,000 people.
Of this, Rs 1.14 lakh was collected from 248 people on Tuesday, it said.
Ahmedabad cases cross 34,000 mark; four die
The COVID-19 tally in Ahmedabad district crossed the 34,000-mark on Tuesday and rose to 34,072 with the addition of 172 new cases, Gujarat health department said.
With four more deaths, the toll rose to 1,781, it said.
A total of 215 patients, including 199 from Ahmedabad and 16 from rural areas, were discharged in the day, taking the count of recoveries to 28,121, the department said in a release.
Out of the 172 fresh cases, 152 were reported from the city and 20 from rural areas, it said.
Ahmedabad now has 3,706 active cases, with the north-west zone having the highest number of 651 cases, followed by the west zone with 645 cases.
A total of 1,984 patients have been discharged to date in rural areas, taking the recovery rate to 94 percent.
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Tuesday screened 1,628 incoming passengers at the railway station, out of which 15 tested positive for coronavirus.
