Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Thursday sanctioned various water supply schemes of Rs 40.44 crore in 5 municipalities under Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana.

Patel has allotted Rs 7.58 crore to Patdi Municipality of Surendranagar District, Rs 8.37 crore to Dhrol Municipality of Jamnagar, Rs 11.58 crore to Botad, Rs 2.18 crore to Chhotaudepur municipality and Rs 10.56 crore to Santrampur municipality, respectively.

The State Urban Development Department had made these proposals keeping in view the estimates of water needs of the population in these municipalities in 2051-52 which has been approved by the Chief Minister.
The existing 250 mm dia pipeline in Dhrol municipality which has been in existence for more than 30 years will be replaced from this fund. He has sanctioned the fund for laying drinking water network in developed areas in 3 new zones in Botad Municipality.
The Chief Minister has also given in principle approval to provide adequate pressure water to all areas on daily basis in tribal area of Chhotaudepur as well as for replacement of machinery at all pumping stations in Santrampur, the release added.
