Gujarat Chief Minister Vijaybhai Rupani on Thursday inaugurated the Indian Coast Guard Married Accommodation at an impressive ceremony at the ICG District HQs at Okha.
During his speech, the Chief Minister said, “ICG is the pillar strength for fisher folks and the active participation of fisherman from Gujarat as ‘eyes and ears’ will strengthen coastal security mechanism. He congratulated ICG for Rs 1,700 crore worth narcotics catch in the region, saving youths from drug abuse menace, saving 30 lives, and medical evacuation of 03 sick persons at sea during the year 2020 amidst COVID-19.”
He expressed his confidence on safe maritime borders with continuous and consistent surveillance at sea by ICG aircraft and marine assets. The Chief Minister was also sanguine and appealed for effective synergy between Indian Coast Guard and state administration.
On completion of the ceremony at DHQ Okha, the Chief Minister witnessed the ICG shallow water operations and embarked on ICG Hovercraft to review the progress of Signature Bridge. Dignitaries from sister services, district administration, ICG family members, and digital/print media personnel were in attendance during the ceremony.
