Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has inaugurated the Padma Shri Joravarsinh Jadav Folk Art Museum, named ‘Virast,’ located in Akaru village, and the National Poet Zaverchand Meghani Museum Dhandhuka, a state government release said on Sunday.
During the felicitation ceremony, Chief Minister Patel emphasized the critical role heritage plays in nurturing and sustaining cultures. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for establishing a legacy of promoting heritage, which has resulted in India’s folk culture gaining international recognition. Patel specifically highlighted the global acclaim of Gujarat’s Garba, attributing it to Modi’s visionary leadership.

The Chief Minister honored Padma Shri Joravarsinh Jadav and his family for their six-decade commitment to cultural preservation and the formation of the ‘Virast’ Museum. During his visit to Dhandhuka, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the National Poet Zaverchand Meghani Museum at the Rest House. Tourism Minister Mulubhai Bera was present at the occasion. As a mark of respect, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel offered a floral tribute to Zaverchand Meghani.
Zaverchand Meghani’s grandson and the founder of Zaverchand Meghani Smruti Sansthan, Pinakinbhai Meghani, extended a warm welcome to the Chief Minister.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel explored the museum’s exhibition, which highlights the inspirational life, literary works, folk literature, and contributions of Zaverchand Meghani to India’s independence movement.
He also admired artistic sculptures and rare photographs. Expressing his appreciation, the Chief Minister congratulated the institution for its efforts.

The State Government’s Tourism Department has transformed Dhandhuka Rest House into a historical memorial site. The exhibition features pivotal moments such as the Sindhudo-Dholera Satyagrah, the Dhandhuka Court, and the significant history of Sabarmati Jail, alongside artistic sculptures and rare photographs.

A dedicated library honouring the legacy of National Poet Zaverchand Meghani has also been established, including a Gandhi-Darshan corner and a Meghani-literature corner. Additionally, a cultural building, ‘Meghani Smruti,’ has been constructed on the premises.
The event witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including Member of Parliament Chandubhai Shihora, former Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, MLA Kalubhai Dabhi, former MLA Bharat Pandya, Arun Mahesh Babu, Managing Director of North Gujarat Electricity Company Ltd., Ahmedabad District Collector Praveena DK., District Development Officer Videh Khare, Folk Singer Abhesinh Rathod, and others.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 184 projects valued at Rs 246.31 crore in Dhandhuka Assembly constituency on Sunday.
Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Patel cited his exemplary leadership as instrumental in Gujarat’s transformation. The Chief Minister noted ongoing projects worth Rs 1,000 crore in the Bhal region.
Chief Minister visits RMS Hospital
The Chief Minister visited the RMS Hospital managed by Sardar Patel Health Foundation in Dhandhuka. On this occasion, the hospital’s trustees and community leaders warmly welcomed the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister paid floral tributes to the statue of the country’s first Home Minister Sardar Patel on the hospital premises. He also offered condolences to the late trustee of the hospital, Shri Dharamshibhai Patel.
The event was attended by Member of Parliament Chandubhai Shihora, former Ministers Bhupendrasinh Chudasama and Jitubhai Vaghani, MLA Kalubhai Dabhi, former MLA Bharat Pandya, RMS Hospital Chairman Odhavjibhai Monpara, Minister Bhimjibhai Sutariya, Vice Chairman Harishbhai Mordiya, Dr. Purohit, and other hospital trustees, a release said
