Gujarat reported 875 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, increasing its tally to 1,74,679, while more than 1,000 patients recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours, the state health department said.

The state reported the death of four more COVID-19 patients, which took up the number of fatalities to 3,728, it said.
At the same time, 1,004 patients were discharged from hospitals, raising the number of recovered cases to 1,58,251, said the department in a release.
With this, the state’s recovery rate rose to 90.60 percent.
The release said a total of 52,880 tests were conducted for the virus in the last 24 hours, taking the number of samples tested so far to 61,57,811.
Surat reported 206 new cases, the highest for a district in Gujarat, followed by Ahmedabad 177 and Vadodara 110, the release said.

Among other districts, Rajkot reported 42 new cases, Jamnagar 32, Gandhinagar 30, Patan 23, Mehsana 21, Junagadh 20, Banaskantha 18, Bharuch and Panchmahal 16 each, Amreli, Anand and Aravalli 14 each, Morbi, Sabarkantha and Surendranagar 13 each, and Gir Somnath and Kheda 10 each.
Two of the state’s four COVID-19 fatalities were reported in Ahmedabad, and one each in Surat and Banaskantha, said the department.
Out of 12,700 active cases in Gujarat, as many as 58 patients are on ventilators, it said.
In the Union Territory of Daman, Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli, the number of COVID-19 cases rose to 3,232 after two more persons tested positive, officials said.
Also, four new recoveries in the UT pushed the number of discharged patients to 3,198, they said.

Surat sees 206 new cases, while 239 people are discharged
Surat reported 206 COVID-19 cases on Monday, taking its tally to 36,347, while one person died and 239 people recovered during the day, an official said.
So far, 1,018 patients have died in the district.
“The city reported169 recoveries as against 157 new cases, the rural part reported 70 recoveries and 49 new cases. The recovery rate of Surat city is now 93.3 per cent with 25,315 people getting discharged,” the Surat Municipal Corporation said.
“A total of 15,385 people are quarantined. Athwa reported 35 new cases on Monday, its tally rising to 5,113, the highest among the city’s eight zones. Katargam, which saw 24 cases during the day, has the second-highest at 4,611,” it said.
It added that 391 patients are currently hospitalised, including 144 in two government hospitals.
“The bed occupancy rate of the civil hospital in Surat is 3.73 percent, while that of the SMIMER Hospital is 7.43 percent. Together, they have 3,046 beds for COVID-19 patients,” the civic body said.
Ahmedabad sees 177 COVID-19 cases, 2 deaths, 114 recover
The total number of coronavirus positive cases in Ahmedabad increased to 42,868 after 177 were detected with the infection on Monday, an official said.
The toll rose to 1,921 with two more deaths, he said.
“The number of people discharged went up by 114 to reach 37,641. Ahmedabad city reported 156 new cases and 99 recoveries, while the rural parts reported 21 new cases and 15 recoveries,” he said.
Among the city’s seven zones, the north-west zone has the highest number of 453 active cases, followed by west zone with 449, while the central zone has the lowest at 304.
“Bed occupancy rate in city’s 70 private hospitals requisitioned by the civic body stood at 53.6 per cent on Monday with 1,102 beds occupied out of 2,056,” said Ahmedabad Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association.
It said 82 beds are occupied and 80 available in ICUs with a ventilator, while in ICUs without ventilators, 171 beds are occupied and 154 available.
As many as 473 beds are occupied and 363 available in isolation wards, it added.
