The coronavirus infection tally in Gujarat increased to 2,31,073 with the addition of 1,160 cases on Wednesday, the state health department said.

The death toll due to the virus rose to 4,203 as 10 patients succumbed to the viral disease during the day, it said.
A total of 1,384 patients got discharged from hospitals on Wednesday, the department said in its release.
This took Gujarat’s recovery count to 2,14,223 at the rate of 92.71 percent.
There are 12,647 active cases in the state at present and 67 of the patients are on ventilator support.
Ahmedabad reported the highest number of 239 new cases, followed by Surat with 169, Vadodara 149 and Rajkot 131.
Among other districts, Gandhinagar reported 53 new cases, Mehsana 44, Jamnagar 34, Banaskantha 33, Kheda 32, Panchmahal 31, Bhavnagar 25, Anand and Junagadh 20 each, Kutch and Sabarkantha 19 each, Amreli 18, Narmada 16, Surendranagar 15, and Dahod and Mahisagar 12 each.
Out of the 10 COVID-19 deaths, five were reported in Ahmedabad, two in Surat and one each in Vadodara, Rajkot and Amreli, the department said.
As many as 54,864 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, at the rate of 844.06 tests per day per million population.
With this, a total of 88,35,130 samples have been tested so far in the state, it said.
In the Union Territory of Daman, Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli, the caseload rose to 3,331, of which 3,313 patients have recovered so far. There are 16 active cases in the UT, officials said.

Ahmedabad reports 239 COVID-19 cases, 230 recoveries; 5 die
With 239 new COVID-19 cases, the highest for a district in Gujarat, Ahmedabad’s tally rose to 54,686 on Wednesday, the state health department said.
Five new fatalities increased the death toll to 2,193, it said.
As many as 230 patients recovered from COVID-19 in the district, raising the number of such people to 49,490, said the department in a release.
Ahmedabad city recorded 230 new cases and 225 recoveries, while the rural parts of the district reported nine new cases and five recoveries, it said.
The north-west zone of the city accounts for 483 active cases, followed by the west zone at 445 and south-west zone at 424, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation said.
The number of micro containment areas in the city has reduced to 39 with no new areas being added and nine existing ones removed from the list, the AMC said.
With the number of active cases in the city going down, the bed occupancy in private hospitals designated as COVID-19 hospitals by the civic body further reduced to 35.8 percent, with 1,272 out of 3,549 beds being occupied, said the Ahmedabad Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association.
As many as 107 beds are occupied and 138 vacant in ICUs with ventilators. In isolation wards, 439 beds are occupied and 912 available, it said.
Similarly, in ICUs without ventilators, 229 beds are occupied, while 316 are available, the association said.
169 new coronavirus cases in Surat district, two die
Surat reported 169 new COVID-19 cases and two fatalities on Wednesday, the state health department said.
With this, the total of positive cases in the district rose to 46,859 and the death toll to 1,110, it said.
As many as 185 patients were discharged, the department said in its release.
A total of 143 new cases were reported in Surat city, where 148 patients were also discharged. In rural Surat, 26 new cases and 37 recoveries were reported, it said.
The recovery rate of Surat city stands at 95.22 percent with a total 33,346 patients getting discharged so far, the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) said.
As many as 13,067 people were currently quarantined in Surat city, while in rural parts, 1,378 people are quarantined, officials said.
Athwa locality in Surat city has reported the highest number of 6,691 cases so far, with 29 of them on Wednesday, followed by Katargam with 5,724 cases, the SMC said in its release.
In rural Surat, Kamrej has recorded 2,423 cases so far, the highest among nine talukas, followed by Choryasi with 2,330 cases.
With 81 COVID-19 cases, the number is the lowest in Umarpada taluka, said the officials.
