The number of coronavirus cases in Gujarat rose by 872 to 41,027 on Saturday while the death toll mounted by 10, including four fatalities in Ahmedabad, to 2,034, state health department said.
The number of recovered cases went up to 28,685 after 502 patients were discharged in the day, it said.
There are now 10,308 active cases in the state, out of which the condition of 73 patients is critical, the health department said in a release.
The state has so far conducted tests on 4,57,066 samples, it said.
At 270, Surat reported the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the state, followed by Ahmedabad (178) and Vadodara (72).
The number of cases in Surat now stands at 8,120 while the fatalities have gone up by three to 313, it said.

The case count in Ahmedabad district now stands at 22,923 and death toll at 1,515, it stated.
Among the ten deaths, one fatality each was reported from Dahod, Kutch, and Patan, apart from Ahmedabad (4) and Surat (3), it said.

Among other districts, Bhavnagar reported 49 new cases, Rajkot 41, Bharuch 23, Kheda 20, Mehsana 19, Navsari and Valsad 17 each, Junagadh 24, Gandhinagar 28, Banaskantha 12, Kutch and Surendranagar 10 each, Jamnagar and Sabarkantha nine each, Anand and Gir Somnath eight, Morbi and Narmada seven each, Mahisagar six, etc.
Gujarat COVID-19 figures are as follows: Positive cases 41,027, new cases 872, deaths 2,034, discharged 28,685, active cases 10,308 and people tested so far 4,57,066.

At 270, Surat again reports highest coronavirus cases in state
Surat reported 270 new coronavirus patients on Saturday, highest in Gujarat, which took the case tally in the district to 8,121, health officials said.
The number of COVID-19 fatalities in the district rose to 313 with the death of three more patients.
180 new cases were reported from the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) limits, taking the case count in the area to 6,907.
In rural parts of the district, 90 cases were reported on Saturday, taking the total in the area to 1,214.

With three patients dying, the toll in Surat city is now 278. The number of COVID-19 fatalities in the rural area stands at 35.
175 patients were discharged from hospitals during the day. Overall, 4,829 patients – 4,269 in Surat city and 560 in the rural area – have recovered from the infection.
SMC commissioner BN Pani said that those returning after travelling to Maharashtra, Delhi, and Rajasthan should get themselves quarantined for 14 days to prevent the spread of the virus.
Elderly people and those with comorbidity should stay indoors as far as possible, he appealed.
23,348 persons have been quarantined in Surat district (12,177 quarantined in Surat city alone). The SMC said it has surveyed 10,25,900 people so far.

Ahmedabad adds 178 new cases, tally 22,923; death toll 1,515
The number of COVID-19 cases in Ahmedabad rose by 178 to 22,923 on Saturday while fatalities mounted by four to 1,515 in the district, state Health Department said.
A total of 126 patients were discharged in the day, taking the number of the recovered cases to 17,789, it said.

Of the 178 new cases, 166 cases were reported from the municipal corporation limits of Ahmedabad and the rest 12 from other parts of the district, it said.
While the number of daily coronavirus cases in Ahmedabad city has seen a comparative decline over the last few weeks, the city civic body has increased the number of micro containment zones in areas reporting new cases.
The number of micro containment areas in Ahmedabad now stands at 173, the civic body said.

The death toll rate of Ahmedabad – which used to be around 81% of the total – had come down to 74.72% on Friday. Gujarat”s mortality rate is 4.95%, still one of the highest in the country.
