Gujarat’s COVID-19 case count crossed the 25,000 mark and reached 25,148 on Wednesday with 520 new detections while the death toll rose by 27, including 22 in Ahmedabad, to 1,561, state health department said.

With 348 patients being discharged in the day, the number of the recovered cases in the state increased to 17,438.
There are 6,149 active cases in Gujarat and 69 of them are in critical condition, an official statement said.

With 330 new cases, the count in Ahmedabad district mounted to 17,629 while the death toll rose by 22 to 1,253.
The number of recovered cases went up by 223 to 12,280 in Ahmedabad district in the day, it said.

Of the total 27 deaths in the state, Vadodara reported two fatalities while Anand, Bharuch, and Gandhinagar reported one death each, apart from 22 in Ahmedabad, it stated.
The number of cases in Surat has gone up by 65 to 2,779 and by 44 to 1,682 in Vadodara.

26 of the total 33 districts in the state reported new cases on Wednesday.
The state has so far tested 3,03,671 samples, it said.

Ahmedabad reports 330 new coronavirus cases; 22 more die
Ahmedabad reported 330 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, taking the tally in the district to 17,629, while 22 more patients succumbed to the infection, the state health department said.
The death toll rose to 1,253 with 22 more fatalities recorded on Wednesday in the district, it said.

The district reported recovery of 223 patients, taking the number of people who have been discharged to 12,280.

The Ahmedabad civic body said around 72 percent of the total coronavirus patients in the city has recovered.
Out of the total 16,672 patients in the city, 11,980 have recovered and discharged from hospitals, it said.
As many as 1,205 COVID-19 patients have died.
The city has 3,487 active cases, with “super spreaders” accounting for 17.4 percent of them at 605, the civic body aid.
The north zone of the city has reported the highest number of active coronavirus cases at 807, or 23 percent of the total, while the west zone follows closely with 703 active cases, or 20.2 percent of the total.
Despite the share of Ahmedabad having come down to 70.10 percent of the total cases, the fatality rate of the city remained the same – around 81 percent of the total. Almost one-third of the deaths – 523 people, out of the total 1,561, have succumbed to the virus in just 17 days of June.
Till date, out of the total deaths, 1,256 people have died in Ahmedabad alone. Gujarat has the highest mortality rate in the country – 6.20 percent.
Ahmedabad’s nine talukas under district panchayats have reported a total of 650 coronavirus cases so far, with the active cases standing at 129, or 20 percent of the total.
Dholka taluka has reported the highest number of cases so far at 187, followed by Daskroi at 148 and Bavla at 69.
