The coronavirus case count in Gujarat grew to 23,590 on Sunday after 511 more patients were found in the state, the state health department said.

As the virus claimed 29 more lives across the state, the death toll due to the pandemic reached 1,478, it said.
There are 5,779 active cases in the state, of which 66 patients are in a critical condition, the department said.

As many as 442 patients were discharged on Sunday after recovery, taking the number of such people to 16,333.
Ahmedabad district continues to top the list of the highest number of new cases in the state. It reported 334 new cases on Sunday, taking the total in the district to 16,640.

With 22 out of a total of 29 deaths being reported in Ahmedabad, COVID-19 fatalities in the district rose to 1,187.
Surat district reported 76 new cases, taking its tally of patients to 2,579. The total of coronavirus patients in Vadodara rose to 1,553 with 42 new cases.

Apart from 22 deaths in Ahmedabad, four died in Surat and one each in Aravalli, Mehsana, and Panchmahal.
Twenty other districts reported new cases on Sunday. Surendranagar reported nine, Gandhinagar eight, Aravalli, and Bharuch six each.

The state has so far conducted tests on 2,88,565 samples, it said.
Gujarat’s COVID-19 figures are as follows: Positive cases: 23,590, new cases: 511, deaths: 1,478, discharged: 16,333, active cases: 5,779 and people tested so far: 2,88,565.

Ahmedabad: 334 new COVID-19 cases take tally to 16,640
As 334 new coronavirus positive cases were reported on Sunday, the number of patients in Ahmedabad district of Gujarat rose to 16,640, the state health department said.
The virus claimed 22 more lives in the district during the day, which took the count of victims to 1,187, it said.

Of the total 511 new cases reported across the state on Sunday, Ahmedabad alone reported 334. The district also recorded 22 of the 29 deaths in the state, it said.
Of the 442 patients who recovered on Sunday, 224 were from Ahmedabad district, the department said.

As per the health bulletin issued by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), the number of coronavirus positive cases in Ahmedabad city rose to 15,443, and the death toll rose to 1,141 by Sunday afternoon.
Of the 1,141 COVID-19 deaths recorded in Ahmedabad city hospitals, 968 were in nine government hospitals, while as many as 527 fatalities were reported from the civil hospital.

Private hospitals have reported 172 deaths, the AMC said.
One fatality was also reported from a COVID care centre.
The city has registered the recovery rate of 71.9 percent so far. Total of 3,282 patients or 21 percent of them is active.
Rural parts of Ahmedabad reported 29 new cases on Sunday, taking the total to 571 there, a release by the district panchayat said.
There are 128 or 22 percent active cases in the rural parts, while as many as 38 patients have died.
