Gujarat now has 5,249 active cases. While 31 of them are on ventilators others are stable, Ravi added.
While Ahmedabad reported recovery of 109 patients, the number for Surat is 65 patients.

Gujarat gets 7 MT of Ayurvedic medicines by air
Gujarat received a consignment of 7 Metric Tonnes (MT) of Ayurvedic medicines from the Central Government’s Ayurvedic Pharmacy by a special plane on Monday.
Ravi also said that the state government had sourced Ayurvedic medicines from Uttarakhand’s Ramnagar-based Indian Medicines Pharmaceutical Corporation Limited (IMPCL) that will be used to improve the immune system of people in the fight against coronavirus.
“A total 2,490 kg of Sanshamni Vati, 1,440 kgs of Dashmul Kavath, and 10,000 AYUSH-64 tablets reached here by air from IMPCL, and more are on the way. These medicines are to be taken for seven days and should suffice for 4.50 lakh people,” she said.
While Jamnagar’s Ayurvedic University is recognised by the Centre as a Centre of Excellence for Ayurvedic Research, Gujarat has a tradition of the wide use of Ayurvedic medicines or as concoctions like Ukala. The State Government has already administered through the Ayush Director Sanshamni Vati to 13.30 lakh and Arsenic Alb-30 potency to 1.05 crore people. These medicines have been distributed door-to-door at 2-lakh houses in Ahmedabad alone.
The Chief Minister is keen for greater use of Ayurvedic medicines and issued guidelines through videoconferencing down to municipalities and village panchayats, and distributed through 568 Ayurvedic Dispensaries and 38 Hospitals.
These medicines are being administered to 1,211 asymptomatic patients at the state’s COVID Care Centres, while 427 have been treated.
Gujarat COVID-19 figures are as follows: Positive cases 8,542, new cases 347, deaths 513, discharge 2,780, active cases 5,249 and people tested so far 1,16,471.
For full protection of Corona Warriors, CM launches hot air seam sealing machine
For the first time in the country, Gujarat has taken a new step of providing complete health protection to the Corona Warriors like doctors-paramedics involved in the treatment of people infected with Coronavirus.
Chief Minister Vijaybhai Rupani launched India’s first hot air seam sealing machine on Monday from Gandhinagar through video-conference. This Machine makes the personal protective equipment PPE used for the protection of such doctors-paramedical staff completely secure with specialized tape.
Rajkot’s MacPower CNC has truly fulfilled “Make in India-Make in Gujarat” by manufacturing this hot air seam sealing machine in Rajkot-Gujarat under the inspiration and guidance of the Chief Minister.

The Chief Minister also lauded the initiative of protecting the PPE kits with hot air seam sealing tape, which provides 100% protection against the transmission of the virus to the doctors and health workers who are currently engaged in the treatment of Covid-19.
He said that this experiment will be a new landmark of Gujarat in the country in keeping the doctors-paramedical staff completely safe.

When such a PPE kit is ready, its sewing needle is about 2 mm, and thread is 0.5 mm in size. As a result, if the infected patient’s blood or fluid enters the kit through tiny holes left on the kit, the doctor-paramedical staff treating the infected patients may also be infected.
By using this machine the holes left in the sewing process in the PPE kit are sealed using specialised tape to make the PPE kit water and air proof to resist the virus.
It must be pointed out here that there is not enough availability of such hot air seam sealing machine in the country so it has to be imported from abroad. The cost of such a machine imported from China-Korea is also Rs. 7 to 8 lakhs and delivery time are 12-13 weeks.
In just 20 days, a team of 100 employees-workers has given Rajkot the pride of manufacturing the first hot air seam sealing machine in India with 80 percent in-house parts.
With the guidance of the doctors of the Indian Medical Association, Rajkot branch, 200 such hot air seam sealing machines have been prepared in a very short time in the first batch.
On the occasion of launching this machine through video-conference from Gandhinagar, Rajkot District Collector Remya Mohan along with Managing Director of MacPower CNC Machines Ltd. Rupesh Mehta, Dr. Mayank Thakkar, Dr Chetan Lalsata, Dr. Tejas Karmata from IMA, Rajkot were also present.

Govt amends APMC Act to help farmers
Traders holding licence issued by an Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) can now purchase agricultural produce from any market yard in Gujarat as the state government has amended a related act through an ordinance.

The ordinance seeking to amend Gujarat Agricultural Produce Market Act of 1963 was promulgated on May 7 as the state Assembly is not in session.
Now, a trader registered with one APMC and holding licence of that market yard, can purchase agricultural produce from any APMC in the state using one licence, something which was barred under the present law.
Another amendment allows traders to buy agricultural produce directly from farmers by visiting their fields.
Traders will not be required to pay any market fee to the APMCs if they buy directly from farmers, stated the ordinance.
The BJP said it would help farmers get better prices for their produce.
