The coronavirus infection tally in Gujarat mounted to 1,64,121 on Thursday after 1,136 people tested positive, the state health department said.

The death toll due to the virus went up to 3,670 as seven more persons succumbed to the infection in the last 24 hours, it said in a release.
A total of 1,201 patients recovered during this period, taking the recovery count to 1,46,308, the department said.

While three patients died in Ahmedabad in the last 24 hours, two died in Rajkot and one each in Chhotaudepur and Surat.
In Surat, 231 new cases emerged during the day, followed by 179 in Ahmedabad, 119 in Vadodara, 108 in Rajkot, and 65 in Jamnagar, it said.
The state government claimed that 89.15 percent of the total number of patients have recovered so far.
While over 52,900 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, its cumulative tally went up to 55.85 lakh.
Six fresh coronavirus positive cases were detected and two persons were given discharge during the day in the adjoining Union Territory of Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu.
As many as 3,188 patients have tested positive in the union territory to date. Of them, three have died, 3,139 have recovered and 46 cases are still active, said a release by the UT administration.

179 new coronavirus cases, 175 recoveries in Ahmedabad
As many as 179 fresh cases of coronavirus were registered in Ahmedabad district of Gujarat on Thursday, said the state Health Department.
Ahmedabad’s tally of positive cases went up to 40,922 with the addition of 179 new infections in the last 24 hours, said a release from the Health Department.
While 163 persons were found positive in Ahmedabad city, 16 cases were reported from rural areas of the district, said the release.
Three patients also died due to the infection, taking the death toll in the district to 1,898, it said.
The release added that 175 patients were also discharged during the day, taking the recovery tally to 35,562.
Surat records 231 new COVID-19
As many 231 new coronavirus cases were reported in Surat district in the last 24 hours, while the death toll reached the 1,000-mark on Thursday, the Gujarat Health Department said.
With one more patient succumbing to the infection, the death toll in the district touched the 1,000-mark, said a release by the Health Department.
Surat’s COVID-19 tally has gone up to 33,880 with the addition of 231 new cases, the highest for a district in Gujarat on Thursday, it said.
While 167 persons were found positive in Surat city, 64 cases were reported from rural areas of the district, said the release.
The release added that 269 patients from different parts of the district also recovered and were discharged from hospitals during the day.
