Gujarat on Saturday reported the highest single-day spike of 1,365 new COVID-19 cases, taking the total count of infections to 1,12,336, the state health department said.
With 15 more people succumbing to the infection, including five in Surat, the total number of fatalities went up to 3,198, it said.

While three deaths occurred in Ahmedabad, two patients died each in Rajkot and Bhavnagar. One fatality each was reported from Gandhinagar, Vadodara, and Gir Somnath, the department said.
A total of 1,335 patients were discharged after treatment in the day, raising the number of recoveries to 92,805, the department said, adding that the case recovery rate in the state now stands at 82.61 percent.
The number of active cases in the state now stands at 16,333, the department said.
At 278, Surat reported the highest number of cases in the state in the day, followed by 175 infections in Ahmedabad and 146 cases in Rajkot, the department said.

Jamnagar and Vadodara districts each reported over 100 new cases.
Among other districts, Mehsana reported 50 new cases, Bhavnagar 41, Junagadh 39, Gandhinagar 37, Patan 31, Panchmahal 29, Morbi 28, Banaskantha 26, Amreli 25, Dahod 20, Bharuch, Tapi and Surendranagar 19 each, Kutch 18, Gir Somnath and Navsari 15 each, Narmada 14, while Botad, Mahisagar, and Sabarkantha each added 10 cases.
74,781 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, at the rate of 1,150.47 tests per day per million population.
A total of 32,19,983 samples have been tested so far in the state, it said.
Gujarat COVID-19 figures are as follows: Positive cases 1,12,336, new cases 1,365, deaths 3,198, discharged 92,805, active cases 16,333, and people tested so far 32,19,983.
Cases cross 24,000 in Surat district; five die
Surat district reported the highest number of 278 new coronavirus cases on Saturday, taking the total count to 24,164, the state health department said.
With five people succumbing to the infection, the toll rose to 865.
Of the 278 new cases, Surat city added 173 patients while 105 infections were reported from rural areas.
A total of 277 patients were discharged in the day, including 189 in the city and 88 in rural areas, the department said in a release.
Meanwhile, Surat Municipal Corporation said 9 of 695 food delivery and courier service agents who were tested for coronavirus as part of a drive, have been found positive to the infection.
The civic body has surveyed 8.88 lakh people as part of its active surveillance drive.
A fine of Rs 1.88 crore has been collected from 43,426 citizens till date for not following the SOP related to social distancing and hygiene, and for not wearing masks.
Out of 434 people checked across different zones to find out if the people who came in contact with COVID-19 patients were following home isolation rules, 62 were found to be flouting the norms, it said.
Ahmedabad cases up by 175 to 33,553; three die
The number of COVID-19 cases in Ahmedabad district rose by 175 to 33,553 on Saturday, Gujarat health department said.
With three fatalities, the toll in the district went up to 1,770, it said.
A total of 151 patients were discharged in the day after treatment, taking the number of recoveries to 27,557.
Of the 175 new cases, Ahmedabad city added 153 patients while 22 cases were reported from rural areas, the department said.
All three deaths were reported from the city.

Meanwhile, amid the concern over the shortage of medical oxygen in hospitals treating COVID-19 patients in Ahmedabad, the city civic body has appointed two nodal officers of the Gujarat Pollution Control Board for ensuring coordination.
They would ensure that hospitals do not face a shortage of medical oxygen in view of the growing number of active COVID-19 patients, it said.
As per the COVID-19 bulletin released by the municipal corporation, the city has 3,695 active cases.
Among seven zones in the city, the northwest zone has the highest number of 657 active cases, followed by the west zone with 635 cases, and south-west zone with 612 cases.
In its continuing effort to detect COVID-19 cases among railway passengers arriving here, the civic body tested 1,713 passengers of three trains, including a Rajdhani Express, at the station, out of whom 31 tested positive for the infection, it said.
