AHMEDABAD, MARCH 3

Gujarat’s proudly-recognized city of Ahmedabad as the ‘Manchester of Textile’ has been at the forefront in the textile industries. Ahmedabad, one of the biggest textile hub and the largest city of Gujarat, is growing as a garmenting hub.  Following the massive impact of pandemic, continuous efforts are being made to give a never-awaited impetus to the textile and garment industries of Gujarat. In a desperate bid to overcome the challenges posed by the epidemic and boost the textile industries at an unprecedented growth, The Gujarat Garment Manufacturers Association is organizing a the 32nd trade show on 3rd, 4th and 5th March, 2022 here in Ahmedabad.

The textile Industry is still manufacturing only 80 per cent following pre-Covid effects, and such a trade show will play a key role in bringing the garment manufacturing to 100 per cent. Having been equipped with the latest technologies and prevailing fashion trends, entrepreneurs are eager to accelerate their businesses by showing their latest marriage and summer collections. More than 500 brands will be on gigantic display at the Gujarat Manufacturers Trade Show. This three-day trade show is expected to see approximately 8000-10000 buyers hailing from across the country in Ahmedabad. The entrepreneurs are hoping forlarge-scale orders at this B2B trade fair.

Scores of buyers from Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta, Ludhiana, Kerala and Chennai among other cities are expected to be present in large numbers and book bulk orders.

GGMA President Vijay Purohit said, “The future of the garment industry is very bright as young, talented and skilled artisans are associated with the industry. No doubt, the upcoming The Garment Fair of the association will be a landmark event as we’re now slowly overcoming the challenging times. Considering the upcoming festive season, special invitation has been given to the big traders who can place massive orders from across India so that every artisan engaged in the garment industry can be benefitted.

Furthermore, in view of the long-standing demand of an Apparel Park, President of the Association Vijaybhai Purohit and the members as a result of their continuous efforts will announce the launch of a new Apparel Park in a short span of time which will be equipped with over 150 garment units with state-of-the-art technology while making a dream of a very large manufacturing capacity come true.

Speaking with media, Purohit said, “The apparel park will come up near Aslali, on the outskirts of Ahmedabad. It will be launched on April 15. While 70 percent of the land will be allocated to MSMES, including start-ups, with a condition that the units must start within three years of purchasing the land. Only GCMA members will be eligible for land allocation. The association will take care of environmental issues as well as other common facilities like cafeteria, IT infra.”

The Fair will showcase all the latest collection of a wide range of fashionable garments keeping in mind the upcoming season.  With the help of such fair, Gujarat’s garment industry will once again flourish and huge employment opportunities will be created.

Arpan Shah, in-charge of GGMA Trade Fair said, ”There are more than 25,000 small and large-scale garment manufacturers in Gujarat out of which as many as 15,000 manufacturers are in Ahmedabad. While this sector is directly or indirectly providing employment opportunities to more than 20 lakh people in Gujarat, it is imperative that this sector gets a big time boost! The industry is recovering from the epidemic, but the production is still up to 80 percent. And with the help of the Trade Fair, the textile sector is expected to grow 100 percent faster in the next three months. Along with the garment industries, fabric, washing, accessories and packaging industries will also get a boost due to the fair.

Guest of Honour and Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Hemant Shah said, “The representatives of Gujarat Garment Manufacturers Association, Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) and other industry organisations had met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman along with Gujarat BJP president CR Paatil on the vexatious GST hike on garments to 12 percent. We will work in tandem with GCMA for the betterment of all stakeholders.”

Gujarat Garment Industries has emerged as a global hub at the both national and international level. After Delhi and Mumbai, Ahmedabad ranks second in the country’s fashion industries due to which Gujarat manufacturers will get positives response.

This trade show will provide a great relief to the industry which has been in a recession for quite a long time.
