Strengthening Gujarat’s position as a hub for advanced automotive education, Mercedes-Benz India on Wednesday inaugurated its first Advanced Diploma in Automotive Mechatronics (ADAM) Institute in Gujarat at LJ University (LJU), Ahmedabad. The institute marks a significant expansion of the luxury carmaker’s skill development footprint in Western India and will cater to students from Gujarat as well as neighbouring regions, including Rajasthan.
The ADAM programme is currently delivered through a nationwide network of seven institutes—four government and three private. The newly launched Gujarat institute adds momentum to Mercedes-Benz India’s long-term commitment to building an industry-ready automotive workforce. The integrated one-year programme combines Certified Maintenance Technician (CMT) training in the first six months with Qualified Service Technician (QST) certification in the following six months, ensuring a comprehensive blend of theory and practical exposure.
A dedicated one-month Basic Electric Vehicle (EV) module forms a core component of the curriculum, offering in-depth understanding of EV fundamentals and hands-on training on electric vehicles. Introduced two years ago, this module has already trained over 300 students across ADAM Institutes. The programme also features flexible entry and exit points, enabling learners to progress at a pace aligned to individual circumstances while maintaining rigorous academic and technical standards.
Speaking on the occasion, Shekhar Bhide, Vice President – Customer Services, Mercedes-Benz India, said:
“Mercedes-Benz India has been consistently committed to strengthening India’s automotive skill ecosystem through structured, industry-aligned training programmes. The inauguration of our first Advanced Diploma in Automotive Mechatronics (ADAM) Institute in Gujarat marks an important milestone in expanding access to advanced automotive education in Western India. Through our collaboration with LJ University, we aim to equip young talent with future-ready skills, including electric mobility, while creating sustainable career pathways within the automotive service ecosystem.”
Assured Employability and Industry Integration
The ADAM programme continues to deliver strong employment outcomes, maintaining a 100% placement record for graduating students. Every year, more than 85% of ADAM graduates secure placements within Mercedes-Benz India’s authorised dealer network, underscoring the programme’s close alignment with industry requirements. To date, over 1,200 students have successfully graduated from ADAM Institutes across India.
Inclusive Skill Development Ecosystem
Reflecting Mercedes-Benz India’s emphasis on inclusive growth, the ADAM initiative actively promotes gender diversity, with 21 female students currently enrolled across ongoing batches nationwide.
Extended CSR Skill Initiatives
Beyond ADAM, Mercedes-Benz India continues to invest in complementary skill development programmes under its CSR portfolio. These include the Advanced Auto Body Repair (AABR) Training Centre established with Don Bosco Institute, Pune, which focuses on modern body repair techniques aligned to global standards.
Earlier this year, the company also partnered with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to skill 1,000 youth and women at world-class Skill Development Centres in Pune and Delhi-NCR. Together, these initiatives reaffirm Mercedes-Benz India’s broader commitment to nurturing India’s automotive talent ecosystem through structured training, future-oriented curricula and sustainable employment pathways.
